Utah team name polling opens, list of potential names revealed

Blizzard is no different than Lightning or Hurricanes, and I don't see people continuously freaking out about those names.

I don't mind Blizzard honestly. Kinda wish it was plural though.

The plus is Avalanche vs Blizzard is good rivalry right off.

It’s not bush league. Things take time. The entire move was done in only a handful of months. expansion teams and relocations, owners get a lot of time to sort it out. they didn’t. No sense rushing things. Do it right. You can survive them being called Utah HC for a year. Other sports have done that as well as a temp thing.

Same here - 'Swarm' with a bee related logo would've been solid considering that Utah is the 'Bee Hive State'.

These names, mostly feel underwhelming and gimmicky. I thought mountaineers was probably the best choice. Blizzard outlaws, venom kind of feel like ECHL kind of names.

The names aren’t great but 70% sports team names aren’t original. In a league that has Hurricanes, Lightning, Panthers, Capitals, Wild, Stars, Sharks, Ducks, Kings, etc I can’t really hate on these.

This! If you toss out the HC nonsense, the remaining names all sound better if Salt Lake/Salt Like City is being used. It’s a syllable thing.

My only problem with Blizzard is that their closest geographic rival will be the Avalanche, and it's thematically a bit too similar for comfort.
