I don't think you understand why Yeti got rejectedWe already have that. Have to believe they would get rejected again if they went that direction...

I always liked that aspect of it. Utah is the western conference Habs
I don't - not a lawyerI don't think you understand why Yeti got rejected
Probably too offensive for them.Outlaws was the superior option from the start.
I like Outlaws fine but I'd cringe pretty hard the first time I heard a commentator say "the Outlaws really STOLE two points tonight"Wasatch and HC are bad for opposite reasons. One’s too obscure, the other’s too generic.
That leaves Mammoth which is… fine.
I’d still have preferred Outlaws.
I'm not sure names like Rangers, Canadians, Leafs, Oilers, Stars, Capitals, Redwings, and so on are good for kids.I suppose the issue with UTC is that it's very adult. It'd be pretty hard to get kids into it. I remember when the Sharks got in. They got popular on the name and logo alone. I think I got into them for that reason as a 10 year old or whatever
I like it cause I never heard of the mountain range.Who cares if Wasatch is too obscure for some rando in New York or Örnsköldsvik, that’s precisely why I think it’s kind of interesting. Its ties together local geography and is a nod to the native peoples as well.
It is kind of a nebulous nickname but I’d say it offers some flexibility in the branding potential. Obviously you have the tie in with the mountains but also the Shoshoni translation to “blue Herron” which can riff off the blue coloring already established and the species of Herron native to the area that can lend more to the identity package and mascot.
I really, really like it.
Lot of Panthers fans scattered around the continent for that very reason.I suppose the issue with UTC is that it's very adult. It'd be pretty hard to get kids into it. So a round toilet bowl instead of oblong? If it’s HC, for a logo instead of the habs logo where the H is inside the C, for the Utah HC the C would be inside the H
Utah Yuk! That sounds great! Those are seriously the best the new franchise could come up with? Yuk.
MountainsAlright, I’ll shame myself by not googling and asking here: what is a wasatch?
You obviously know nothing about marketing. Wasatch would be the worst name in sports.Let’s be real here. It never truly mattered what they picked. Team identity branding is like peak 21st Century internet outrage fuel.
At the end of the day, if the majority of locals want something to represent them, thats all that matters.
The only reason 90% of team nicknames annd brands are not endlessly ridiculed is because we are used to them.
