Utah Hockey Club down to final 3 names: Hockey Club, Mammoth, and Outlaws (upd: Wasatch already nixed)

Just stick with Hockey Club, and do a proper rebrand with some awesome logo.

It's unique in the American sports scene.

Someone on X floated the Utah Raptors, which to me just makes sense and sounds good too. Unfortunately, it's taken. I personally don't like the Mammoth. I didn't like the Kraken when I first heard it and its started to grow on me.

What about the Utah Scorpions.

I don't like Raptors from a branding POV because of how unique it is. I get sports teams share names regularly, but in this day and age I don't think it's a smart thing to do with a very unique name associated with only one team. Imagine an NBA expansion team calling themselves the Avalanche.

Mammoth seems to be the best name. Outlaws feels like the name that would be used for a fictional Houston football team in a cheesy sports film. The only reason I would use Hockey Club would be if it was a way to use the Yeti branding, but I also think that is a bad move marketing wise because they would be encouraging the fans to view them as something they can't actually market.

That’s because the Utah Jazz relocated from New Orleans.
 
I feel like the league should step in and punish the Utah ownership for all this name drama by forcing them to temporarily adopt the name 'Utah Drama Queens' for the '25-'26 NHL season.

Really hoping for Outlaws. I suspect that will win out, if the fans were already making it a choice over Wasatch

I mean that's why it's called HOCKEY club, not FC or SC.
It's really not that uncommon to name a hockey club..... hockey club.
But I suppose if you need it to be named after some weird mythical creature or a landmark that your prerogative.

I don't even understand how Hockey Club is on the table.

Stumbling unknowingly into sentences like "alright, we've got a road trip coming up where we play the Avs, the Wild, the... Hockey Club, and the Predators" has been the absolute worst part of this current season in my opinion.

Still don't think it was acceptable to just twiddle their thumbs all year last year and not pick a damn name.

It needs to be Outlaws from this lame list. Hockey Club is so stupid and what on earth is a Wasatch (I know what it is after looking up) but sounds super stupid for a name of a team.

It will be HC as that is clearly what the owner wants it to be. Many voters have pointed out that it is always near the bottom of the polls and yet somehow it is still there. He clearly isn't good at picking names and why on earth wait a season to pick a name when these are the best names they came up with?

Yeti was dumb name but still ticked the courts blocked it and also let Stanley Cup be used by a product (utterly bizarre - I'm going to start putting out a line of Lombardi Cooler Bags and make a fortune).
 
I honestly think it should be train related.

Enter any other train related name. Transcontinental Railroad is as important to Utah as any other western states and maybe more because of the connection in Promontory Summit that connected the Central Pacific and Union Pacific Railroads. I feel like also having a badass steam locomotive on your jersey would be awesome. And it does convey some power and speed into the team. A lot more than something like Mammoth or Outlaws does and honestly Outlaws fits more in Texas, Kansas, or Missouri (maybe Colorado?)
