I wanted them to resign him, but I'm a bit surprised by the term. Happy with the money though. Could be a steal of a contract if continues be play at least in the same range as he is now.

This is about how I feel about it. Happy with the money, a bit wary of the term. That’s really all it boils down to and the rest is self explanatory.

anyone else a little worried that Karel did well because it was a contract year and now he'll revert back to the .900 goalie he was before this season?

I'm hopeful that he's maturing, getting better and .910 will now be the norm

No, because the D has improved too. He used to play behind Josh Brown, Troy Stecher, Juuso Valimaki, and Shayne Gostisbehere.

Good for Veggie! How this ages will depend on future cap hit and how well Veggie plays in the future (obviously).

I was initially surprised by the term, as far as I understood the goalie of the future is Hrabal whose developing pretty well, if you haven't seen the 14 round Bronze medal shootout performance it's linked below. But, in 5 years Hrabal will be 25 or so, which is about right.

To be fair, I haven't been watching many games this year (catching an odd 3rd period here and there), but imo if Veggie stays at least an average goalie this seems like a fair deal on both sides, maybe half a million too high but who cares. More importantly goaltending should be good for when we become a playoff team and imo that's easily worth a small overpay.

Bronze medal 2025 WJC shootout link (actual shootout about 10 mins), Hrabal is Czech
