I am hopeful this contract will age well. I like Maata and I like this extension, depending on the AAV.

$3.5 million is the reported AAV. With the cap set to increase dramatically over the next few years, this contract should age very well unless he ceases entirely to play like he belongs in the NHL.

NHL.com did say his last contract was 2 years, $3M with a $1.5M AAV. It was actually $3M AAV. You read it right, they were incorrect on the AAV.
