I’m almost more curious how many guys leave each year after this season…

Say a guy gets 35 points in the CIS as a rookie , is he just off to the states? We won’t know until the time comes , just a thought .

This is a good point and another scenario to consider. Will this year be the outlier in terms of the number of guys going U Sports -> NCAA…or will the US schools continue to scout U Sports?

If a guy gets passed over coming out of junior and is maybe a late bloomer, goes U Sports, has a really good rookie season, I’m sure many of them would then be looking to head south.

I'm guessing the USports teams aren't super excited to announce the number of guys leaving especially teams losing a bunch of guys and especially to the NCAA vs graduating and signing pro. UNB has made no mention of Elliott signing in the AHL where in previous years they would have a made at least a few posts about it.

My guess is we'll have to mostly rely on the NCAA side of things (media and teams) to post about USports departures.

Good points. I guess it doesn't matter who reports it, the guy is still gone.

I haven't seen McGurn on Elite Prospects but Motew is there and also Tyson Galloway, CAL to Lake Superior State.

Not necessarily trying to suggest a cattiness to how UNB announces/doesn't announce departures (it may just be unintentional half-assery?), but I have noticed dudes who leave after one season, give or take, don't often get the congrats tweets from the UNB socials. IIRC, they posted nothing when Guay, Phelan, and Pinard left, off the top of my head.

If your wife left you for a far richer and better looking man, you wouldn’t make a Facebook post congratulating her , I’m sure that’s how the teams feel watching players leave for other schools … If McKenna goes NCAA you want to bet Medicine Hat doesn’t acknowledge it, right or wrong .

Guys going pro is different and I’m shocked they wouldn’t acknowledge AHL guys because if anything that’s something to hang your hat on and speaks to the level of the program
