M-F "I wish I could sleep in I'm tired af"

Nonworking Saturdays and Sundays, wake up at 4 am and can't go back to sleep

I (40M, 5'4", Korean) have a pretty big collection of plushies — think Pokémon, Sanrio, random cute animals, the works. I’ve been collecting them for years, and I’m pretty proud of them. They’re all displayed in the living room on shelves and the couch like little royalty.

Here’s the thing: I don’t let anyone touch them. Not friends, not family, not even my boyfriend of six months. I even bought a little sign that says “LOOK, DON’T TOUCH.” I thought it was funny. Apparently, no one else does.

Last week, I hosted a small get-together. I told everyone the "no plushie touching" rule beforehand, but my boyfriend’s niece (7F) lightly hugged a big Snorlax plushie because she thought it looked "soft and sleepy." I immediately told her, sternly, “Please don’t touch the plushies.” She got embarrassed and almost cried.

My boyfriend pulled me aside later and said I was being “insane” and that they’re literally toys and I should chill out, especially around kids. I told her it’s about respect — my house, my rules. He said he understood but that it made me look "completely unhinged."
Now, half my friends think I’m hilarious and double down on the "Plushie King" nickname they’ve given me, but the other half (including my girlfriend) think I’m being uptight and, quote, "treating plushies better than humans."

I honestly don’t think I did anything wrong. If you walk into a museum, you don’t touch the art, right? Same principle.
AITA?

You know what’s sad? If this was posted in the AITA subreddit it wouldn’t even be the craziest one I’ve read

I was watching the Guardians game yesterday and Clase has a 7! ERA this year. What's up with that. Isn't he supposed to be good?
