The Goodbye

The sun was setting over Beverly Hills, casting long golden shadows across the Walsh family driveway. Brenda Walsh stood there, arms crossed, a duffel bag slung over her shoulder. The familiar sights of her neighborhood—the palm trees, the sleek cars gliding by, the sprawling homes—felt different tonight. They weren’t hers anymore.

Her brother, Brandon, leaned against the family’s station wagon, trying to look nonchalant but failing miserably. “You sure about this?” he asked, his voice tinged with concern.

Brenda nodded, biting her lip to keep her emotions in check. “Yeah, Brandon. I’m sure.”

The decision to leave Beverly Hills hadn’t been an easy one. For years, Brenda had been at the center of it all—dramatic friendships, messy romances, and the endless whirlwind of high school life. But somewhere along the way, she’d started to feel like she didn’t belong anymore. Her dreams of pursuing acting had grown louder, drowning out the noise of the drama that seemed to follow her everywhere.

“Mom and Dad are going to freak out when they get home,” Brandon continued, trying to coax her into staying. “I mean, you could at least wait until tomorrow. You’re really going to skip dinner with them?”

“Brandon,” Brenda interrupted, her tone firm but not unkind. “This isn’t about Mom and Dad. This is about me. I need to do this.”

Brandon sighed, running a hand through his hair. “You know, the whole ‘running away to find yourself’ thing—it’s kind of cliché.”

She smirked. “Yeah, well, clichés exist for a reason.”

A breeze swept through the driveway, rustling the leaves and carrying with it the faint sound of distant laughter from their neighbors. Brenda glanced at the house one last time. She could still see flashes of the life she was leaving behind—movie nights with Brandon, awkward family dinners, late-night phone calls with Dylan.

Dylan.

Her chest tightened at the thought of him. They hadn’t ended things on the best terms, and she hadn’t even told him she was leaving. The idea of a drawn-out goodbye felt unbearable, so she’d opted for a clean break. At least, that’s what she told herself.

“You’ll call, right?” Brandon asked, breaking her reverie.

“Of course,” Brenda said, though she knew it might be a while before she did.

The roar of an approaching taxi broke the moment. Brenda stepped forward, dropping her bag on the ground as the car pulled up. She opened the door and hesitated, glancing back at Brandon.

“You’ll be okay,” she said, more to herself than to him.

“Yeah,” Brandon replied, his voice softer now. “So will you.”

She smiled faintly, then climbed into the cab. As it pulled away, she watched the familiar sights of Beverly Hills blur together, her heart a tangle of fear and excitement.

This was it. A new chapter.

Brenda wasn’t sure what the future held, but for the first time in a l
ong time, she felt ready to find out.

Visited Pinky’s (a Vanderpump restaurant) that recently opened and we enjoyed it so much! The restaurant itself is beautiful and I like that part of the dining room has windows. It feels like dining in a greenhouse! The service was wonderful and we enjoyed all of our food and drinks. It would be perfect for a romantic date night or a girls dinner!

Not watching gambling because I think I figured out how to block twitch ads finally on mobile so I can watch Marvel Rivals all day :yo:
