You ride in like the backcountry anyway there are no cars. Just go to the shoulder and let it live.
it's not going to run in a random direction. It might rarely stay still because it's surprised/scared/schoked/etc. But if you were to move either to the left or the right a little long before reaching it, nothing would have happened, as it would not have started to run in the direction you moved in.that was the first time ever i've come across an animal that didn't scurry away. i didn't run it over on purpose, but literally every other time i've come across one they've scurried away... at least with chipmunks and squirrels. there is no legit way to guess which way they'll scurry, so the best bet is to just keep going straight and let them get out of the way.
