Seabrook has no value. Maybe you can sell the "veteran presence" BS to a team like Edmonton. But it shouldn't be a secret that it's an almost untradable deal.
He may have 3 Cups, a lot of which wasn't his doing anyway, but the last 2 years of debacles fall on Stan and Q. Given our cap situation we HAD to let Seabrook go. Keith is here (and better...with a better deal), Hammer is here (better...with a better deal), and we got a good deal with Campbell. Find someone that can play D and roll the other two spots with the best young, cheap D men you can find.
If Seabrook costs us at resigning Panarin then Stan should be fired without thought. He's better than Kane (not as much offensive talent but gets more out of what he has...which is still a lot and is much better everywhere else) and super young...the type of guy you lock up.
Honestly? I'd see if Buffalo would be interested in Kane. I don't know if they would do an Eichel but Kane has "top 5 player" cache and hometown appeal that would maybe get Buffalo to pull the trigger. Doubtful, but I don't think this team can realistically carry both T and K without either playing at a superstar (overall impact...not this score and skate around half-assed Kane BS) level. Toews is likely untradeable now....I think we could trade Kane and be immediately better...and with more salary flexibility (even better if both Kane and Seabs go).
