I have a theory on Ben Stiller comedies.

His best work is when he's playing a wacky character. See Zoolander, Mystery Men, and Dodgeball.

The movies where he plays a normal guy tend to just be cringe comedies. There's Something About Mary, Meet the Parents, Along Came Polly, The Heartbreak Kid are all guilty.

Not to say that the former is always good, or the latter is always bad, it's just very noticable how much more I like his wacky character movies

This is very true, he's also funny in his few scenes as the orderly at the care home in Happy Gilmore

What makes Dodgeball so great is that no one character really has to carry the movie, Vince Vaughn as the main character doesn't have to be too forced because all of the supporting characters in his team are funny in their own ways
