@Siamese Dream how often is the Welsh anthem played before non international sporting events
everyone is getting very upset over it and they want it gone lolAnthems before DOMESTIC sporting events are an exclusively North American sport phenomenon.
They play anthems before hockey games here but NEVER for actual good old English sports like soccerballs or rugby
everyone is getting very upset over it and they want it gone lol
but the sports leagues are adamant they stay. They were about to ban it for basketball games but the guy in charge of the league just said "all NBA games will have the anthem"

"or like our cousins across the pond call it, prom"Like how British high schools try to copy the f***ing prom because they want to pretend they're in an American film
"Keep politics out of sports," said the same group of people who want the anthem played before every sporting event and demand the players stand at attention.
At best, one could argue anthems are a waste of time. At worst, one could argue they're nationalistic propaganda.
I tend to lean more towards the latter in some instances when they want to do some military worship before games as well. It's always really f***ed me off that they advertise a game as 7pm start but when you turn it on there's a good 5 minutes of ads and presentations and anthems

Dear Coach's Corner
I'm writing in order,
for someone to explain,
to my neice the distinction,
between these mandatory pre-game group rites of submission,
and the rallies at Nuremburg
The task of selecting a stereo receiver/amplifier is complicated by the wide variety of systems being marketing by electronics firms (2.0, 2.1, 3.1, 5.1, 7.1 or 7.2) Those numbers indicate how many channels of stereo are created. 2.0 is traditional stereo, 2.1 adds a separate sub-woofer, 3.1 adds a center channel, 5.1 includes rear speakers for better surround sound effects. Finally, 7.1 adds two speakers on the left and right and positioned about where the listener sits, while 7.2 is the same as a 7.1 system but with an extra sub-woofer.
