we looked at a couple places on the skirts of lafayette - some were in the $450s. But didn't love the areas.

If you can afford Louisville, do it. My wife's from there and family still lives there. It's a really nice town, if you're into pseudo-environmentalist techy yuppies with teslas but 5000sqft houses, which i am.

Longmont is also vastly improved over the last decade, is only 20m or so outside of boulder, but quite a ways from denver if you guys are into the denver thing, too.
