What's the difference between folk and folks?
Folk is a collective noun (e.g. the folk are uprising). Folks is a collection of individual folk. The distinction being that "folk" refers to a mass or a mob -- It is referring to the collection or the mass itself. Interesting, never occurred to me that we use the typical singular form of the word for extended plural, as in a crowd or mob but use the plural form when meeting say a set of parents.
