@Siamese Dream whats the strategy for changing out engine parts and what not? like do you use a certain set for practice, and a different set for quali/race or how should that work?

In the latest previous versions of the game I've played the game by default gave you a practice engine and a race engine

My strategy was always to prioritise the engine and gearbox durability upgrades first with your resource points, because otherwise you definitely will have to take penalties for using more than the allowed amount for each component at some point.

A lot of this is stuff you'll have to pick up through trial and error, or watch a youtuber doing a career mode to see what they do

I don't mind taking penalties in my first year of My Team but was just wondering what the rules and optimal way to go about it was. From what I understand, the components you use for Quali are the ones you use for the race? I'm also not familiar with how the penalties are given out.

I think I remember the practice engine was only for P1 and P2, assuming you are doing full weekends? Then the race engine for P3, Qualifying and Race.

When you go to change the engine part past the number of allowed slots it will give you a warning about a penalty before you do it, usually it's 5 or 10 grid places per part.

Actually I think I'm misremembering about the practice engine, I think that might only be for the gearbox? In which case yes it's best to use the worn parts in practice and change for the race but you might find it more difficult to pass the practice programmes in that case.

ahhhh ok. sweet. also, are you able to change the race length? I messed up and chose medium race length and realized too late that it was too short. Before the race it looks like the length is locked. Can I change that after the race for the upcoming races?

You'll have to start over, I don't think you can change it mid-career. Or you might be able to but only in the menu, not when you've gone into a session

I'll have to do more digging to find out. Don't want to waste my time racing only to find out I can't change it after.
Edit: Looks like you can before the next race
