Michael Benjamin Bay is an American film director and producer. He is best known for making big-budget, high-concept action films characterized by fast cutting, stylistic cinematography and visuals, and extensive use of special effects, including frequent depictions of explosions.

Wait a minute, Zack Snyder is only one year younger than Michael Bay?

Don't know why I assumed Zack was like 10 years younger, lirl

Despite Michael Bay movies being anything but high brow, I don't feel like it's ridiculous to claim that Zack Snyder films feel more immature in certain ways.

Sure, Michael Bay goes overboard on the explosions and his humor can range from childish to outright inappropriate, but most of my complaints about Zack Snyder are more about filmmaking fundamentals and how his movies occasionally devolve into "a kid playing with action figures" to the detriment of the story.

Michael Bay is overindulgent while Zack Snyder will cut corners to get to the indulgence quicker.

Watched Last Action Hero over the past few days.

I would like to watch it all at once, but it's more than 2 hours, which is just too long.

There's one scene that calls out to me, after Jack Slater gets fired, he goes back to his apartment, which is almost completely empty with this giant loud highway seemingly 10 feet away from the windows.

Very liminal space feeling, and it reminds me of one of the apartments I lived in that was such an awesome place. Good god, that was almost 10 years ago

Michael Bay has his faults, but The Rock is better than anything Zack Snyder has shat out onto film

I actually liked The Island even though it takes a downward turn in the 2nd half of the movie, and is littered with OTT product-placement. (This is also the part where @Ceremony comes along to comment on how seeing ScarJo cutting about in a tight white bodysuit was crucial to his sexual awakening in his formative years)

I have maintained for years that the story was actually a really solid concept, and would have worked really well as a series.
