Maybe this is just a Wikipedia thing, but why is the naming of NFL seasons so stupid and confusing.

It's called the 2018 Season because the entirety of the season was played in 2018. Makes sense, until they call the corresponding post-season the 2018-2019 Playoffs, in spite of the entirety of the playoffs being played in 2019.

To add to the confusion: Wikipedia has a little note at the top of the page saying ""2019 NFL playoffs" redirects here. For the playoffs after the 2019 season, see 2019–20 NFL playoffs." But if you Google 2019 NFL Playoffs, the top result is the 2019-2020 NFL Playoffs page.

That's dumb as shit. The 2019 Playoffs are the set of games that took place in 2019, not the set of games played in 2020.
