I remember when a molecular gastronomist went on MC and he didn't even make it to the final

in fact it happened twice

both times Gordon said you need to know more about the theory of cooking rather than using a pressure cooker all the time or liquid nitrogen. they all seem like fancy gimmicks but you have to actually understand flavor profiles and actual cooking

again not to say that I am a chef I am not

but cooking is more than just blindly applying chemistry and molecular gastronomy principles. You cannot just read Nathan Mymhold's big ass Molecular Gastronomy book and become Wylie Dufresne
