I've been looking into earbuds because everyone now has the airpods pro or earbuds and it's like I just brought a Bose one which is great but you know I need something more portable

Eh, I use IEMs, but I doubt that's what you're looking for. I'm not a big wireless earbud guy because a) usually the quality is meh and b) battery life generally sucks.

There are lots of chi-fi (chinese hi-fi) options out there that sound great, if you're ok with wires. KZ makes great stuff and I have several pairs of these for when earbuds are the move: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07Q2NZMR4/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

It's actually insane how good they make them for the price. I would consider myself only to be an "audiophile lite" (since I'm too poor to be a real audiophile), but those IEMs from KZ sound fantastic.

I remember back when Blackberry phones were a thing and I had one and I tried to use the earphones that came with it, they were the worst thing in the world ever, the most uncomfortable thing I've ever experienced

Yeah the battery life sucks

Will continue to use my alternate headphones. Found em on Amazon for 25 and they have a rubber band too that connects the buds
