Between tickets being wildly expensive and people being assholes, it's completely understandable why some people have no interest in going to games.

I mentioned this a while back, when the fiancee and I went to a Wings at Canes game, we were behind the Wings bench and this one Canes fan next to us was getting so upset because they were being shutout.

I was on some edibles and enjoying the game, but I lean over to say something to my fiancee and the guy next to her is staring me down for no reason.

It was a regular season game and this asshole looked like he was about lose his shit, even though he was behind the Wings bench and practically surrounded by Wings fans.

"Just be a bystander." I didn't say one word to this loser and he was getting upset at me for merely existing near him.

f*** that shit, some people take these meaningless sports way too seriously, so it makes sense why some people have no interest in going to games.

Being there in-person is a unique experience, but let's not act like it doesn't have a ton of downsides.

Exorbitant prices.
Gotta find parking and possibly walk a long distance.
Leaving can take multiple hours because of traffic.
Worse view than TV.
No commentary, so you might be left clueless at points.
Tons of time-wasting because of commercials.
Uncomfortable seats (especially in my case, where my knees typically hit the seat in front of me).
People coming to their seats late and blocking your view.
The chance of spending all that money just for the game to be boring/uncompetitive.

Not really.
Use public transit. Yes we do have to walk a mile here who cares. In Baltimore it's right next to the train stop.
No. Leaving takes like 5 minutes in DC and the train stop is right across from the stadium in Baltimore. Everyone tries to pack it and you're jammed in a car but it's doable
That's not true, you see more on the field than on TV
No commentary is true.
Time wasting, which leads to ad time in the stadium for goofy dances which is still kind of lame but not another beer / car ad
No, I'm not fat
Yes, they come to their seats during the game and then I have to stand up so they can get by, and it's like 4 minutes into the game lol. In hockey this doesn't happen as the usher basically holds the crowd back until a stoppage in play
Well yeah that's sports but again I go to like 38 hockey games in a 41 game homestand so you get the good games, you get the bad ones.

Bitch, it's not a matter of fatness when you're 6'5".

I've sat in some seats where I could sit up completely straight and my knees would still hit the seat in front of me.

As I contort my legs to sit somewhat comfortably, I also have to stand up every time someone wants to walk past just to sit back down and resituate myself.

You literally went to one hockey game in Raleigh and it was rinkside. Then you act surprised pikachu that people pay that much.

Sit up high.

That's all you took away from that story?

Where did I even say I was surprised by the price?

Even if you sit in the cheap seats, you're paying for so much other shit that sometimes it doesn't seem worth it.

Not really.

Yes really. Fees just to buy the tickets and insane food and drink markup are two easy examples.

Every citiy doesn't have that as an option, so you have to pay to park, walk, then fight a bunch of traffic when leaving.

That's not true, you see more on the field than on TV

Depends on where you sit, but it's not like it's the 70s where you're at home watching on a 15" CRT.

Time wasting, which leads to ad time in the stadium for goofy dances which is still kind of lame but not another beer / car ad

If I'm at home, I can pause the game and go take a dump in a clean bathroom without standing in a line.

Yes, they come to their seats during the game and then I have to stand up so they can get by, and it's like 4 minutes into the game lol. In hockey this doesn't happen as the usher basically holds the crowd back until a stoppage in play

Depends on the stadium. Some don't stop people from going to their seats during play. It's not just people in your row, it's people in the rows ahead of you, too. And it's not just the first 4 minutes of the game, it's the first few minutes of every period.

Well yeah that's sports but again I go to like 38 hockey games in a 41 game homestand so you get the good games, you get the bad ones.

That point applies more to football or playoff hockey games. There's a possibility the game will f***ing suck and you're shit out of luck.

It's 50 dollars to go to the Bills game plus a minimal fee. Your friend Biden helped by removing hidden fees. This isn't a Taylor Swift concert

Given you're in Standing Room only but still.

Other cities don't have that as an option.

Most do though. I've done a check before of how close the stadium is to public transit. LA is the worst because SoFi has no public transit options nearby, but arenas like Philly, NY, even Foxboro (one of the worst arenas to get in and out of, only one road going to and from the stadium) have public transport nearby, even if you have to reserve tickets on the T in Boston

Depends on where you sit, but it's not like it's the 70s where you're at home watching on a 15" CRT.

You can see more in the high seats like formations up high. You actually see less up front.

And no matter how good your system is you won't be able to hear stadium noise effectively, which will make you tingle in person, or chants. People chanting especially away fans are hilarious especially if their team loses and they shut up.

If I'm at home, I can pause the game and go take a dump if I wanted to.

I can just go to the bathroom during breaks. Lol at you pausing the game. I have an antenna that I hook up for football to be ahead of everyone else. Pausing is not an option.

You aren't wrong about hockey intermission thought hose are the worse times to go to the bathroom. Go during a stoppage in play

Depends on the stadium. Some don't stop people from going to their seats during play.

Depends on the sport. Football usually no but baseball sometimes, hockey nearly all the time, and basketball no

That point applies more to football or playoff hockey games.
well yeah especially for a team like the nats who kept losing in the playoffs or caps

but when they do win it's great

"you should never attend a playoff game for a loser who's never made the playoffs or has had bad luck because they won't win they'll find a way to blow it"

In episode 6 of STAT a guy is crying in a room full of boxes and starts yelling f***

then it is revealed the HSV has been harboring the terrorist who blew everyone up outdoors

also the government agents interrogating that person who snuck a clear water bottle in

Cheapest seats for the next Panthers home game is $61 for upper deck seats.

The light rail is an option in Charlotte, but that shit gets crowded as hell. But you can't compare cities like Philly and NY to smaller cities like Detroit and Jacksonville.

You can see more in the high seats like formations up high. You actually see less up front.

And no matter how good your system is you won't be able to hear stadium noise effectively, which will make you tingle in person, or chants. People chanting especially away fans are hilarious especially if their team loses and they shut up.

That comes down to personal preference. As technology advances, watching on TV keeps getting better and better.

Yes, you can't replicate being there, but that's both a good and bad thing.

I'm not talking about your team just losing. A blowout win or loss is less exciting than a close game.

but in a close game the atmosphere in the building cannot be replicated at home

No one said that.

I've already admitted that going to the game is a unique experience, stop trying to act like every aspect of it is great every single time.
I'm biased because I'm always there but the only bad thing is so much time spent out

for football I'm out of the house at 7 am and don't get home until 6

and that's a 3 hours game lol
