Because our dmen are too good at evading the forecheck and passing the puck between themselves. They were actually baiting the lone US forecheckers to come at them so they could either pass or sakete with the puck past them.
They didn't seem very good at evading forecheck in previous games.

I'm a fan of good players. I was a fan of Casey's well before he was a devils prospect, you can check my history.

I'm in this thread because I am a USA hockey fan. Habs fans seem to be here only boost Hutson and dump on other US defenseman because they're insecure. It's pathetic.
Insecure about what? Having a solid prospect who is dominating the NCAA?

USA gets one and its a totally new game, they'll get the mojo back. The offense from US is super scary when they get it going. Great period but 40 minutes left..

Of course he is, Hutson has great potential offensively but he really needs to slowly put on weight without sacrificing an ounce of speed. If he turns pro he will be rushed and abused at the NHL level. We’ve seen it with Ty Smith. His BMI is so low it is unplayable at the pro level.
I guess we will find out soon since he's going to play in the NHL at the end of the season.

Hutson is the same type of player he was at the program. Free wheeling offensive defenseman with great edges. He is hard to play with, abused defensively, and dynamic offensively.

Its a solid pick at the slot he was taken but the praising and suffocating coverage of him has gone way too far.

What are you talking about? The devils fan who wants Casey on the first pairing while he hasn’t been better than Hutson in the first period is clearly unbiased 😅
Says the MTL fan who I'm sure is a long time fan of the US junior program. Give me a break. Both players have obvious talent and are great prospects. It's no crime for someone to prefer one or the other.

I get that but that's what happen when you produce the way he did last year as a rookie player in the NCAA.

AND you get drafted by the Montreal Canadiens. But the problem is box score watching rather than actual NHL projection. I expect him to need a year or two of AHL time before we even get an idea if he can hack it defensively.

About having a solid prospect who has been monumentally disappointing in this tournament after getting walked for the goal that ended the US's WHC?
I think that is just the give and take with a guy like Hutson. A good coach will maximize his offense and find ways to shelter him a bit defensively. The issue right now is the US wants him on the ice bearing more burden on defense than he should. Dont' forget Casey was ill and missed a game. I'm guessing he's not 100% just a few days later if he was that sick.
