I hope those in the past who think bigger ice surface would open up the game took note that it is even easier to trap and clog the neutral zone on a bigger ice sheet. Thankfully the NHL will always stay 200x85 and not go to 200x100. I enjoyed the games this year but the games on NHL sized rinks were sooooo much better in 2010.

As a friend said to me in a text, today's game felt like a matchup between the Kings and Stars (mainly due to Benn scoring on Quick, and Lehtonen usually shutting the Kings down). Quick proved in this tournament that he's one of the best goalies in the world. Price probably had two tough saves to make this entire game and hasn't really been peppered at all in this tournament. And Quick saved his best performance for today and was easily the MVP of this game.

Going to cheer on Canada to win the Gold now.

I think the USA had a pretty good roster but just had a bunch of no-shows in this game and in the tournament.

Zach Parise just never got anything going, one flukey gift wrapped goal from Pavlec.

Joe Pavelski one PP goal that any of us could have put in, completely useless today five on five against Canada. Really had no business playing with Kessel but that shows Team USA's lack of talent down the middle.

Team USA is ok on the wing, Kane and Kessel are as skilled as they come, Parise is a good player who had a terrible tournament.

The biggest issues with team USA are the lack of a #1 center, seems like a long time ago when we had Modano, Roenick and Lafontaine. Kesler is an amazing 3rd line center on any team, but he isn't a #1 center in a best on best tournament. Pavelski looked really slow on the big ice and is another who ideally is a bottom six guy in best on best.

The other issue is the PP QB's, Suter is a great d-man but he is no Doughty/Weber or Karlsson when it comes to the PP. We need to develop another Leetch or develop a guy like Weber (hopefully Trouba). Shattenkirk had a very disappointing game today.

You're joking right? I have my doubts that anyone on the Kings could have one-timed that puck, let alone any clown here on this board.

How many athletes in the Summer and Winter Olympics are amateurs?

If you want to say you don't want the NHL to suspend the season for three weeks that's fine, but the amateur thing makes no sense. No one is an amateur at the Olympics in any of the marquee sports that people are willing to pay money to see.

Everyone was an amateur (at least from the USA) back when I watched my first Olympics in 1968.

I feel the same way about NBA players being in the Olympics. It's a farce. An absolute farce.

Yet another sign of the p***yfication of our society. "Don't play or you might get hurt". That's ridiculous, playing for your country is an honor and the pros need to be doing it. Injuries can always happen, even when you're not playing. If ppl ever want hockey to make a mark in our great country, we need things that can unite Americans. This is the perfect thing. Keep the pros in the olympics!

Totally disagree. An injury in the Olympics to a key player on your team and you might be thinking very differently.

If you owned an NHL team and you had a chance at the Cup, and one of your key players (or more) go down in the Olympics, you might be singing a different tune.

p***yfication (how did that one ever miss the censors?) ?? Give me a break. Mischaracterization on the Internet runs rampant. :/

Ridiculous comment.

I'll be sure to run it by you the next movie I decide to see or book I decide to read, since you clearly know what we should all be enjoying. You realize plenty of people criticize people like us for "getting butthurt" over our teams losing in the playoffs, and here you go, doing the same thing with regards to the Olympics.

I personally love the Olympic tournament, I wish you were more into it, would love to hear some of the excuses you could come up with for Team USA getting shutout. Oh well, less than a week until the Kings return.

Sorry, really can't get into all the bull **** nationalism on cheering a bunch of NHL or NBA players facing each other. To me, its a joke. What makes a difference to me? I was all over the 1980 Olympics USA hockey team. Now that was special.

I am going to be pretty selfish, and hope Quick doesn't start for the Bronze game.

I want him kicking back on the bench chilling.

Rest Quick please, team USA.

Sounds good to me. Rest Brown as well, after taking that scary tumble I really don't want to see him back on the ice.

2010 games were clearly better but I still enjoyed these games way more than I've done any game since the series against the Sharks. The USA-Russia game was a classic, would have liked to see that in an elimination game.

I really love the Olympics and I hope NHL players come back every time. It's once every four years, the best against the best, it's special.

That's great that you feel that way, but even if the NHL did not go to the olympics that wouldn't stop the professional players from the other hockey leagues throughout the world from sending their players.

Not to mention the players themselves want to participate. No one is forcing them. It's not going back to amateurs. It's either all professionals or an unbalanced competition. You can complain about as much as you want but things aren't going to go back to the way you and those that support all amatuers want them to be.

A lot of those idiots are popping up all over this site as well. Tons of people are touting Price today after having an insanely easy shutout

If the USA put up the kind of pressure the Canadians did today, Price wouldn't have only given up 1 goal. The US made it way too easy on him after the first 10 minutes, especially with all those shots right into the chest.

The whole Canada's Game is getting quite old too, I would like to point out that of all the IIHF 1st place finishes Canada has so far gotten 24 (25 if they win this weekend) to Russia/Soviet Union's 26.

We've all seen that look on Quick's face before when the team in front doesn't give him any goal support. Still, that's a sick looking shot of the mask he wore.

Well said.

And the players overwhelmingly want to go, and the fans overwhelmingly support sending NHL'ers

Big deal, every four years the NHL takes a 3 week break to play in the best tournament in the world.

Quickie deserves a shot at Gold.

We all know he's the King that makes us feel like Kings and his teammates Kings. 5 years after he ends His career with the Kings, I expect a statue in front of Staples, that also reacts/blocks non-living objects from going to the door. Or at least a statue like Gretzky.

It's too bad the rest of the world can't see it.

When it's all said and done, Jonathan Quick will go down as the greatest American born goalie in the history of the game.
