Faulk, Tkachuk and Boeser are injured. Already worrying signs. I think Blackhaws guys are major factor this year.

well if McDavid can go play, I think Eichel needs to follow suit...They are the 1-2 punch for their draft and Eichel will forever be linked to him...how does it look when Canada's superstar can come but you don't if healthy??? If you want to be held in an elite category, have to do what the elite do.

Oh I agree, he should play for sure.

And more importantly he should come motivated and give it his all, not just go there and float like last year.

All I can find on Faulks status is they have it listed as "soreness" Doesn't sound very serious but I can't get any info other then that on what is going on with him.

I'll add my 2 cents - Jack really really should go...

without waiting for any 1st. rd. late additions...although I'd keep 3-4 roster spots open in the event players like Matthews want to join in on the fun. And that would really set up a Canada v USA Gold Medal Game nicely. fingers crossed. I've been waiting for a McDavid + MacKinnon v Matthews + Eichel showdown for a couple of years now.

What's the latest with Gaudreau... back in Calgary or still dealing with family issues in NJ?

not sure if any of these players are pending UFA or not.

I heard he wasn't playing well at all, he had not had a point or maybe just a single assist since his return until he broke out with 2 goals last game.

Anyway, I guess it all depends on how motivated he is to actually play in this thing in regards to how excited American fans should be about him coming over as he played last year and he was awful, he really was.

He might not add all that much, it's all up to Jack.

The first game back he looked solid. The next 4 games he looked like he was trying to do everything on his own because his linemates Pominville and Pouliot were useless. Pominville has only scored 9 points in the last 33 games and Pouliot has only scored 19 points all season despite being on the top 2 lines a majority of it. The Sabres were essentially shutout 4 games in a row as well. Eichel is one of the best zone entry guys in the NHL each season but that means nothing when your wingers are still in their own end . Then there was the Toronto game he scored 2 goals playing with Girgensons.

Speed wise he looks 100% but at times where he gets hit with a puck or slash in the leg (lol at the defense going for the injury instead of playing the body or the puck) it looks like he worries about his leg, I don't blame him after having back to back high ankle sprains with different legs. I'd imagine he plays like he did last WC after coming off his injury, especially if Mittelstadt gets an invite...at least I hope he goes.

Thanks for the synopsis of his game since coming back.

It will be interesting to see if he attends this year and what effort he brings if he does go, last year he went through the motions and didn't help team U.S.A at all, I would say he actually hurt the team.

"I’ve never played for my country before. It’s a really cool opportunity and there’s some really good guys going. There’s some speculation that (Patrick) Kane and guys like (Johnny) Gaudreau are going so it would be a good opportunity for me to play on a big stage. At the same time, my family is first, so hopefully we can get some good results in the next two weeks.”

Garrioch: Ryan Dzingel could be ready to take on the world

I figured Dzingel would be a likely add- solid year for him, and a perfect 3rd line role. I also love him throwing out Kane and Gaudreau, put some pressure on these guys! I know Gaudreau's situation which is in serious doubt, but Kane can wait to hit the casinos/gold course for a few weeks and help lead this team to it's first Gold Medal game.

....and Bobby Ryan still sitting by his phone waiting for that USA call since 2014 lol!!!

Kane, Eichel, Keller, Schmaltz, and DeBrincat should be first 5 names listed- if we hear that, then good times ahead for the rest of the roster.

If we hear - Mittlestadt, Dzingel, Gaudette, TVR, etc right out the gate - brace for a rough few weeks...I would like some of them to go, but not listed right away...just too much talent sitting outside of the playoffs right now for them to get named first.

Tkachuk is hurt
Gaudreau still away
Hanifin is a RFA
Bishop hurt

so might not have any of them to hope for....

after the Hawks game Nick Schmaltz was asked about the World Championships and said he and DeBrincat are trying to get Kane to join them - said it with a smile...so likely means Schmaltz and DeBrincat are going or just putting shit on Kane forcing him to go...either way I found it interesting to hear.

This is what i got after injuries, contract situations etc.

Scott Darling
Charlie Lindgren
Cale Morris

Bishop is injured and i think Anderson maybe wants to spend extra time with his family after what has happened in recent years. I think Darling and Lindgren are better than Condon or Montoya. Of course there is Howard but some reason i believe he will not come this year. Dark horse is Demko. I think he could do what Hellebuyck did couple years ago.

Jaccob Slavin-Justin Faulk
Nick Leddy-Neal Pionk
Jordan Oesterle-Connor Murphy
Christian Wolanin

Alex Galchenyuk-Jack Eichel-Vincent Trocheck
Alex DeBrincat-Nick Schmaltz-Patrick Kane
Anders Lee-Clayton Keller-Ryan Dzingel
Christian Dvorak-Nick Bjugstad-Christian Fischer
Casey Mittelstadt/Adam Gaudette

Seems like a viable lineup although the goaltending is a concern. I would have been fine with Darling before this season. He had one of the worst seasons for a de facto starting goaltender in recent memory.

Gaudreau may be back in consideration. I know he loves wearing the red white and blue. His dad seems to be recovering well and I'm sure he'd love to watch his son play more hockey.

Would love to be able to reunite him with Hayes again - those two are magical together.

Gaudreau - Hayes - Trochek
Debrincat - Schmaltz - Kane
Lee - Eichel - Keller
Nelson - Dvorak - Mittlestadt

That would be a pretty formidable forward group.

Sounds like if Kane plays a whole gaggle of Hawks will. A ton might anyway.
yep, Hawks have turned into team USA over the years.

Kane, Cat, Schmaltz, Saad, Hinostroza, Hayden, Murphy, and Oesterle, are all serious names to consider though Oesterle is in wayyyyy over his head being paired with Keith most nights, and Saad has looked very bad most of the year. Hopefully just an anomaly of a year for Saad, still almost at 20 goals somehow.
