I'm so happy for Kakko. He always looks so sad. Now he has someone to talk to.
Suffering from diabetes and Celiac....I can see him being down some moments . Imagine making 3Million or so a year and not able to gobble down a dozen ice cream sandwiches or Boston Cremes ....or a 12 inch pizza . Poor guy can't enjoy a good pigging out night .

Watching Kakko handing the broadway hat to Smith the other night he seems very comfortable with his teammates. I don't think another Finnish player on the team is really an issue with him one way or the other and it shouldn't be. He's been here--what for 5/6 years? He should be comfortable. I really wouldn't think he goes home to his home or apartment every night with nothing to do and no one to talk to after all this time.

Reijo is a legend from his brief time in NY. Definitely one of those "gatekeeping" players for younger Ranger fans. "You don't know who Reijo Ruotsalainen is, what number he wore? Bah, you don't know the real Rangers!"
Reijo was the man. So fun to watch. #29 possibly the smoothest skater the Rangers ever had. Great backhand in close.

I remember a game where he went through Larry Robinson's legs with the puck .....LOL...and maybe he just went around him but the point is he beat him fairly bad on the play .

I do not remember that play but I remember several great ones. I remember him in on a breakaway and lifting the sweetest backhand top shelf that was so smooth. It was like he was playing against a little kid goalie. I think he would have been a lot better in an era without all the clutching, grabbing and hooking.

They shipped him to New York in a box???? I knew Anaheim had an internal cap, but jesus f***ing christ!
Picturing this in my head, I'm lmao

Vodka9en eating a nice breakfast of Ram's balls before the game while listening to Bjork

Right after you take him out of the box, following a tough redeye flight, he's hungry and you gotta feed him

This is the type of guy the Panthers would pick up as an afterthought and turn into a top 4 guy.

Out of the box he's already better than Lindgren.

I was about to post this as I'm a few days behind due to personal travel but I think he's going to be someone people are pleasantly surprised with. He comes in with little to no expectations but he's a guy who has good size, skates well and can effectively move the puck. You're mention of him being the type of guy a team like Florida would target is extremely accurate. A guy who came to the Rangers with little fanfare (actually more bemoaning due to his underlying stats) was Niko Mikkola. Mikkola was a really nice addition for the end of that 22-23 season who then left to play for the Panthers.

I can see Vaakanainen having a similar 'surprise' trajectory as Mikkola did with NY at the end of that 22-23 season. His 68 games last year in Anaheim were eye-opening for many and I think he could really turn out to be a useful depth d-man on that bottom pairing.

If they’re shipping in boxes, then they should be renamed the Compton Gats, players forced to shoot holding their sticks sideways with Gin and Juice being the goal song and Snoop being the mascot. Too much?
