This is the exact deal I wanted them to do. Actually keeping it under 5 mil at 5 years is even better. As I’ve argued before…goalies his size who have any length of success in the league are always movable if he has to be moved. And they’ve got him signed until he’s 30 if he never gives up the job.

I can’t think of one reason to not like this deal. But I look forward to reading many of them.

Hold up was probably the simple fact there was no rush, they just needed to get it done before the hearing.

I'm happy to 100% have my head up my arse and be wrong thinking UPL wouldn't be locked down. Good cap hit. Actually, great. Anybody who watches every game so something change in his command and net, including rebounds and breakaways. He only seemed to falter with extreme overuse in the second half. I think he can play 55-60 games.

Obviously, there is some risk. Every contract gets riskier the longer you go.

This contract really brings some faith in franchise and direction. For me.

If there is no NTC/NMC involved, it’s fine. I think 5 is a little long on term, but it teams are seeming always willing to give goalies a second chance, so barring a major implosion this contract should be movable if things don’t work out.
