Joseph has 4 pts in 16 games, I don't really think moving on from him was problematic, as for Perron, with what he has been going through, I'm willing to give him a bit more leash before making judgement. I liked his game before he took the leave of absence even if he wasn't scoring, he was involved on the forcheck and the line seemed to be getting it's chances. 0 pts, though one assist was robbed by a dumb ref.
He's playing 12 mins on the 4th line with 38% offensive starts

I think it would look closer to the 35 point pace he had gotten here in the 14 minute middle 6 role and 50% offensive zone starts that Amadio has had we just chosen to keep him for that role

Perfectly fine to move on from him, but we replaced him with someone who hasn't been as good as he was for a pick and no cap help

Amadio hasn't worked out yet, but that wasn't what the post I replied to was referencing.

I also have a hard time just assuming Joseph would score like he did last year if he was still here, hasn't worked that way for Greig, Pinto, or Sanderson.

Grieg is on pace for 2 less points than last year, 27 vs 29. He picks up 1 tonight he's on pace for 30

Sanderson is on pace for 48 points, last year he got 38 on pace for 39 (PP merchant this year)

Pinto, absolutely, awful year

Greig is pacing at half as many goals, 6 vs 13
Sanderson is pacing at 7 ES pts compared to 24 last year and hasn't been remotely the same defensively.

Neither guy is performing to expectations imo, so like I said, I don't see it as a given that Joseph would perform the same as last year.

Either that or we would have 22-23 Joseph that had 3 goals in 56 games. That's the thing with Joseph, he was extremely inconsistent for us. He had a good bounceback year last season, but we can't assume he would be that much better than his replacement.

Don't think there is much risk in the assumption he'd be better than his replacement, his replacement is worse than that season thus far. Amadio is on pace for 17 points compared to Josephs's 26 in 2022-23.

Amadio has been very, very bad for the Sens thus far. He doesn't fit in when moved up due to injuries, and he isn't doing much in his role on a 3rd line.

Joseph falls between what he scored last year and the year previously where he had 3g. He probably scores 25ish points, but he makes our PK better. The difference between them isn't large enough to warrant getting rid of Joseph with a 3rd, even if you get a bit of cap savings with Amadio. Joseph is better in a bottom 6 role though, so I would have kept him for that.

On the bright side, Amadio can only really go up from here

Joseph's a better, significantly faster skater and that's worth a lot to a team that's currently as slow as molasses.

100% agree. Could really use his speed right now. Honestly feel as though we could've had both Joseph and Amadio, not signed Perron, and used the extra $1 million in capspace for a bottom pairing D or some cap flexibility.

Joseph paced as a 10.5 goal scorer in Ottawa. 18 total over 3 years. His speed may be a good asset, but he's not a solution to anything. Amadio scored 41 goals over that same period Jo scored 18. He's over 0.5ppg and had 6 goals in 20 playoff games. Hasn't worked out, but Amadio has more to give yet imo. Like 3 quarters of the team is snake bitten offensively and guys can look awful during those times. I also don't think Pinto and Grieg are as bad as they're showing right now.

I still think the Perron Pinto Amadio line has the potential to take off, they were a bit snake bitten early on.

Joseph is not a great player... he brings speed and energy mostly. I am not sure how he ran so far out of favor unless he said or did something stupid.

Amadio is a smarter yet slower player .. One came in , one went out but they are not the same type of player

I mean there's a lot of blame that people could place on the team for where it is. Goaltending, Sanderson's struggles etc...

But at the end of the day you're never going to be a playoff team if Pinto, Greig, Amadio and Perron have a combined 5 goals a quarter of the way into the season. Those players should have 15 goals now between them. 10 more goals is probably 4 more wins.

I'd be okay with seeing some of these players spending a game in the stands to send a message.

I really wanted us to sign Noesen probably just because we drafted him long ago. Now he's absolutely exploded. What a steal.
