When the Coyotes moved to Glendale, there was an expectation that the West Valley would do more to support the coyotes. That really hasn’t panned out. Now there were issues with the bankruptcy and with the the lockout. But this team did have good players and did have good teams at times, just not the stanley cup caliber teams, but always fell short. They got to the Western Conference finals one year…but the Glendale West Valley has not stepped up. What we expect to see is that the East valley will. I think that’s what the difference will be.
Guess what. When the team was good, the attendance increased. When the team was on its magical 2011-2012 run, the attendance improved steadily over the course of the season until the barn was selling out by the last quarter of the campaign.
Beyond that, though, isn't there a bit of a paradox here? The talking point that the whole fanbase is on the east side of the Valley necessarily leads to a conclusion that the East Valley fans
won't support the team unless conditions are favorable, based on the past two decades of receipts. That would also lead to a question, "Why didn't a fanbase grow in the West Valley, then?" And then you'd be asking the question we have been asking for years.
