UPDATE 3/5 - YouTube TV, Sinclair reach deal for FOX RSNs, but not in NY, CHI, or LA

  • Work is still on-going to rebuild the site styling and features. Please report any issues you may experience so we can look into it. Click Here for Updates
Sling is not an option. It is owned by DISH so you won't get the RSNs.

Fubo is an option, I believe. No ABC or ESPN though. That's my point about this streaming shit: none of them have everything. During football season, only a couple have Red Zone but then you can't get ABC/ESPN and the other you can't get any Viacom-owned stuff.

It seems like it is always missing something. If one of them actually comes out with everything, it is still going to be expensive which the whole point is for it to be cheaper.

Regardless, it is completely mind blowing to live in a world where I don't get my local RSNs. I mean, I was watching Prime Ticket when I was like five years old but, in 2020, I can't watch a Kings game? Crazy.

Slings app was junk last time I used it. Fubo dropped FS earlier this year afaik.

Just signed up for Hulu live.

I have heard people prefer the YouTube TV interface over the Sling interface by quite a bit. Anyone with first hand knowledge?

YT TV had a better interface than Hulu Live when I was doing the trials. Hulu Live was kind of like using normal Hulu which isn't the best interface to begin with.

YT TV seemed like the best all-around choice when I was originally looking in to it. I'm in the Google ecosystem already as well so that was a small bonus.

i used a very old iteration of sling when it was basically brand new so it's a grain of salt with me but i did really like youtube tv's interface when i was using it last season. i found myself actually watching tv occasionally instead of turning it off after the game which is pretty rare for me

that said, same as bigking, i'm deep in the google ecosystem so everything played nice together

Sinclair just made a deal with Hulu Live+ in Chicago to carry the new Cubs channel.

The Fox label disappears on April 1 and it appears they are going to rebrand as Stadium (insert city) nationwide.

I have AT&T TV.

BTW, has anyone else noticed that the Big 4 Networks never go in the same package? AT&T has all but NFL Network. From my experience, cable and dish companies would never put all 4 in the same package. Like if you have NFL Network, NBA TV and NHL Network, MLB Netwprk would be in a different package. f***in assholes.

This thread is good evidence for what a clusterf*** television service has become

I'm not well versed on the business aspect but I assumed that with the advent of streaming, the content providers would divest themselves of the middlemen. Here they are clinging to an antiquated business model.

I haven't had cable in over 4 years and have had no problem watching the games with nhl tv. I'm done subsidizing HGTV, OWN and a bunch of other channels I have zero interest in. It's seriously maddening the way that industry has been allowed to operate including the exclusive deals that cable providers get with municipalities. I thought that is why we have antitrust laws.

Sorry for the rant but I know we can all relate.

LA is just overloaded with RSN's

Spectrum SportsNet - Lakers
FSN Prime Ticket - FSN West - Clippers, Angels, Ducks, Kings
Spectrum SportsNet LA - Dodgers

New York City likewise

MSG, MSG+ - Rangers, Devils, Islanders, Knicks and Sabres (upstate NY)
YES - Yankees, Nets
SNY - Mets

What astounds me is the Dodgers channel after 6 years still can't be seen in 60% of the market.

Spectrum has their own streaming service now. I thibk they charge $19.99 a month. But they just won't include Sportsnet LA. Guaranteed, their subscribers would skyrocket if the service had the Dodger channel. But I guess they're too desperate to keep their cable business alive.

You're telling me. It's hard being a Dodger fan when you have to go out to watch a game.

Well, guess that was my last Kings game I get to watch from my comfortable couch this season. M Fers
Getting tired of all this. Such a hassle and none of the companies give a flying f.
I feel like this is No Country for old men and I'm not even that old. Dammit

Just want to watch my sports teams. Make it easy so your team continues to have fans and new fans. Kids are going to grow up not giving 2 poops about any professional team.
It's already way over $100 to take my family of 4 to any NHL, MLB, NFL, NBA game. Way over $100

F it, I'm getting into gardening.

At least in LA you have some cheap ticket options.

In Boston, a family of 4 will spend $250 just to get into a Bruins game.

Yeah, we're getting there. Not sure how many families are able to go to more than a couple games a season. Our entertainment dollar is getting squeezed. When a couple games cost as much as a major appliance, something isn't right.

I've used both. YouTubeTV is a really great product. Sling was really bad picture quality for some reason.

I had a unicorn set-up. Last year I went to CA and logged into my YTTV account at my friends place in LA and upon my return to WI my YTTV here had switched to the SoCal market and over a year later it never switched back. I had Kings/Angels/Ducks/Padres (plus all LA local channels on my YTTV), came in great during NFL season too since I could have access to whatever was being shown in LA + here by using the over the air antenna. That coupled with ESPN+ gave me enough sports where I didn't feel the need to have to order NHL or MLB packages, saving me a few hundred bucks a year. Was very disappointed to read this news, but not surprised. Probably won't watch many more Kings games this season but will have to shell out for MLBTV now.

The thing I find crazy about this is there hasn’t been shit from YouTube on the subject. I’m a paying subscriber and I just found out about this randomly, and tomorrow my channels are just going to disappear without a word? f*** you google.

Screw them all. Nhl package + geoblocker=no blackouts and ridiculous tv provider sabre rattling. Get with the time tv exec dinosaurs, were tired of your restrictions and monopolys. Stop forcing us into packaged deals and give us what we want--a la carte sports channels free from your inflated filler channels.

It is maddening

Here at HF we are not allowed to have people post links for 'third party' streams and many of the streams that show up on Google are malware city

Now I know of one site that for $20 a month gives you access to 4000 channels including every RSN in the US and Canada. They have been around for over 3 years, they use Paypal so your credit card is not exposed and only charges a month at a time and the customer has to renew manually every month.

I freelance for NBC and NESN and found out about this site from a senior exec at the NHL who says he uses it to see how badly Fred Roggin stiffs the NHL over the NBA on KNBC-TV. This site has an approved app in the Apple Store, Google Play and it works on my 4K Amazon Smart TV. Buffering is a minor issue

They even have the new Cubs channel.

They also have a url to watch on a laptop and unlike most third party sites I get no alarms from my security software.

I did some investigating and it appears the site is backed by the Mohawk nation that straddles the Quebec/NY border and also runs a sportsbook.

All I can say is the NHL and NBC know about them and I can assume all the other leagues do as well. :dunno:

Please don't PM asking me for their sign up link - but all I can say is for 3 years they have served me well

I still pay for Center Ice from Xfinity

I use reddit , which uses surgesport.net, the only thing is you have to leave it on or restart the process even between the periods and you do not get actual commercials ....just pick Bila or sport24 and you don’t have to deal with pop ups or joining anything........... waited all season for dish to renegotiate and pay almost 2hundred a month just for dish , like having options what to watch but really only watch sports and the History channel , yea old guy lol
