Again, I am not trying to paint Beaulieu as a top pair, great defenseman. I am just trying to balance out the OMGZZZ BEAULIEAU IS THE WORRSST D EVA!

It's just bias and people to stubborn to give a little credit and measure a player on his current performance.

PS Beaulieu is not stunting Heinola or Sambergs development (nor do I think they are being blocked at all). If you want to 'blame' someone, blame Stanley. Maurice/ the org is not going to play 2 rookie defensemen in the lineup at the same time unless injury forces it. That is just a fact.

This is not the season for Samberg. Teams that just promote their blue chip prospects because they are good, fail. Samberg will play in the AHL this year, and THAT is what is the best for his development. It also makes sense for the team, because, like it or not, there are player relationships to maintain, contractual considerations, etc.

I have said that I want Heinola in for Beaulieu - but again, I don't think Maurice will do that. He will likely want Heinola playing the NA pro game in the AHL, getting big minutes, playing the PP.

I am at peace with Samberg getting big minutes in the AHL to start. I think once the AHL season starts there will be less angst because the young guys will be getting minutes.

As far as the rest goes injuries always present opportunities especially in the D core. Maybe late in the season things look quite different.

Right now the team is winning and coaches never f*** with winning team.

Both our prized young D prospects will be making an impact in the NHL and it could be as soon as this season for at least one of them as injuries occur.

AHL starts tonight and no Canadian teams have been scheduled to play yet. Do we have any updates on that?

Gus and Ves to taxi squad, likely just to push money around. Perfetti to Moose.

Jets have to make a decision now with Dubois coming in to the lineup, Poolman coming back, and Thompson ready to come off IR. Gus and Ves were easy decisions because their ELC's slide.
Still going to be one player over, so either Stanley goes on the taxi, or Niku or Thompson goes on waivers. If Harkins goes on IR, then there is still the roster space.

After last night's game I think Gustafsson and Vesalainen probably stay on the taxi as the 13th and 14th best forwards we have.

With Perfetti going down, and Dano cleared to play, I think we have 2 lines of forwards at least to develop on the Moose, once Ontario approves AHL play. Probably going to start with a lot of games against Calgary's farm team. Which is better than not playing. Seems like that is where Samberg and Heinola are soon to be headed.

I'm fairly certain that the league took possession of all the Jets 1.0 trademarks when the team moved to Phoenix, and then gave them back to TNSE in 2011. The 90s "Poochy" jerseys will be back someday...it's only Season 10, Jet! ;)
Hmmmm - not sure where I heard it but I thought that was still a blocker. To me, the 90's logo and scheme was the best Jets kit of all time (though the colors definitely need some tweaking)

I find them to be a product of their time...as are all logos, really, but some are kind of timeless and some scream "THIS WAS MADE IN 1990!"

The nostalgia factor though...the Selanne jerseys...they'll sell at a good clip, I reckon.

Quantifiable data is only good when the measurement has been tested scientifically and vetted as pure.

Hockey metrics are not that - especially new age stats. They haven't been in practice long enough, and they are subject to interpretation. There are also so many variables in hockey, that these stats have a long way to go to be considered iron clad. I'd also like to see the credentials that the people who have created these stats have in the statistical sciences.

I work with stats and data every day in my job, and we have a wide range of stat qualities and ages, and we consider that when disseminating and weighting those statistics against other things we know when measuring success or tackling a problem.

Beaulieu has been fine this year. He's not a top pair D, and I do hope that Demelo moves up the lineup, and Heinola can take his spot. I don't think Maurice will do that though, as he's risk averse.

What I take issue with is the Beaulieu is awful meme because it's simply not true.
In other research topics, if I have an independent variable (like xG) that is meant to directly predict a dependent variable (like G), but only explains about 40% of the variance even with large sample sizes, I would worry about measurement error in the independent variable. That doesn't mean it's not of any value for a broad set of inferences, it just means that I would want to improve the measurement of the independent variable. My first advice to an NHL team from a data perspective would be to ensure that there measurements are accurate and reliable enough. That's a good use of resources. Of course, they also need to employ good analysts and have a hockey staff that is open to discourse about analytics, but nothing undermines the use of research more quickly than bad data.

More than just moving money around as PLD and Poolman have to be added. If Harkins is back in, then Poolman and Niku are our extra skaters and Forsberg the third goalie. Presumably, Niku waived to the taxi squad before the road trip so Thompson can be added?

Are the Moose playing games next week? Like to see Vesa-Gus playing there and a plug like Ceuss called up.

Really like how we are assembling a hustling, aggressive, bottom 6, that can forecheck effectively. That depth can pay off in the playoffs....

With all this chatter about who goes out of the top six when PLD arrives in game... who should go on wing... perhaps Stastny...

What you just mentioned above.... role 4 lines with equal shifts until PP & PK's... keep our best centers at center would seem to be the right path...

They had Sawyer on 1290 this morning with him mashing which center should go to wing... ugh...

Depth can really pay off now and into the playoffs...

I hope like hell that's what the Jets do...

Roll 4 lines... equally...

We would give the opposition fits if we ran 4 lines with our 4 top centers. If Lowry was our 4th line center???? Holy crap would we be incredible up front.

Would it matter if Lowry was 4th line center if he got equal 5 vs 5 time like the other centers... hell no... !!!

It would certainly matter to the opposition...

Praying...
