Speculation: Undrafted FA Thread (NCAA/CHL/Euro) II

I don’t he would be better then Newhook personally

And Panarin is an exception, look at the Gusev/Shipachev/Plotnikov and cie who many thoughts they would come and have a major impact
Shipachev was 30 when he came in the NHL. It was never going to work at this age. Gusev has 54 points in 97 NHL games offensively he was fine. But he was 27 when he came to the NHL and after 2 years trying to adjust he was already 29. In the case of Plotnikov he has not been really dominating the KHL. He has always been under a ppg in the KHL and significantly for some seasons. Panarin was only 23 when he came to the NHL and that was after a very dominating season at 22. Not comparable imo.

I understand but Honestly I red the same kind of comments few years ago with Panarin.

Remember Montréal was in the mix at the end with Chicago.

Another Russsian., .undersize etc..

At the time nothing was sure cause the dude was not even drafted as well

Shabanov could surprise à lot of people and he will be a better llayer than Newhook from the get go
Apparently we all but had him, And then his team erased a 3-0 deficit and Chicago took an interest and that was that. f***ing brutal

The Flyers are the front runner with Shabanov. The Pens are also in the mix.

We should try....

I don't care if he is 5.8 170...the dude is so good.
He is 24 years old and he would be a lot more valuable than Alex no vision Newhook

Pass on Shabanov. Instead sign Aimurzin after next season. He'd compliment Demidov better.

Demidov-Aimurzin-(physical winger)

Some guys we could look at to boost Laval for the POs. Looking at guy that should be available in time for the playoffs, so not on Memorial Cup contenders. Could be NHL or AHL deals depending on which one.

Nate Tivey is interesting as he's a big boi and might just be slow developing as he was getting use to his body.

Any interesting Candidates this year? I think it is usually just before the NHL playoffs when all the college players end their seasons that there are a few interesting names, but then don’t sign here. With KH knowing a lot of college players I wonder if we’ll have better luck.

With the Habs battling for a playoff spot and Laval having a good shot to win a championship, I'd be surprised if they signed any college free agents this year given they wouldn't get much of an opportunity in the NHL or even AHL.

Remember Montréal was in the mix at the end with Chicago.

I remember that initially, Montreal was the only team interested in him. And his KHL team was down 3-0 to CSKA Moscow in the Conference Final. If they would have lost and be eliminated, he would have signed with Montreal.

However, his KHL team came back and won that series and then went on to win the Gagarin Cup. And he was a key part of that comeback. And that's when other teams took notice and started approaching. And now Panarin went from Montreal being his only option to having a bunch of teams he can choose from. And obviously he went with Chicago. And who can blame him? Blackhawks had just won their 3rd Stanley Cup in 6 years. He had the option to play with Kane and Toews.
