Thanks for the info, sk8. The kid is 6'6", 230 still playing junior A and is nearly 21 years old! I can't imagine, just on that information alone, that he becomes even an AHL regular...I'll probably check out the Devs prospect camp and get a look at him just to be sure, but geez, he's still playing against all those kids that he's out-aged and out-grown...
As long as you're not expecting much, he's fine. If you have even slightly elevated expectations (as in... he can play) you're in for a disappointment. Nice kid. But the talent fairy skipped him.

fwiw, I don't think there is any info. on that site that confirms he is still on the Red Wings reserve list. As I posted above, I plan to look into his status, hopefully, I will have time to review the old CBA this evening.

I sent the publisher a PM. The site is usually pretty accurate.

EDIT: I got a PM from the RWC publisher and he confirmed that Backstrom is Wings property until August 15th, 2010.

Willie Coetzee of the Red Deer Rebels have accepted an invite to the Detroit Red Wings camp in Sept.

Yeah, I went to the Devs prospect camp today...I'm pretty sure he can't cross-over...he's big and pretty lacking of everything else...he did try to walk a defenseman, which had hilarious results...borderline ECHLer probably...

Kellan Tochkin has apparently signed a two year deal with the canucks
I guess his stats (74 points in 72 games) and camp was enough to show the Canucks brass he could be a good prospect

The Wild have also signed Tri-Cities D-Man Tyler Schmidt to an ATO for the second year in a row. Good player, little surprised he wasn't drafted after his excellent season.

Do you have a source for this? All I can find is about how he got a ATO last year.

Wild

I was at the Olaf Kolzig/Carson Kolzig Charity Golf Event and spoke with Tyler. He has signed another ATO with the Wild.

I think tucker would really fit in with that team
