44 Evan Case D, Ferris State
45 Chad Langlais D, Michigan
4 Kyle Verbeek, F, Lincoln USHL

Connolly is a great invite, probably should have been drafted this year.

So Kurtis Mucha didnt get signed by Phoenix? Also he isnt at prospect camp, did he end up somewhere else?

No he was not signed. And after Edmonton drafted a goalie, he was un-invited to their camp as well. I do not think he has been invited to any others yet, but also admit I haven'tlooked all that hard to find out if he has.

Nashville had its rookie camp this week. The FA invites were:

Jody Peterson, D, Princeton
Case Wellman, F, UMass-Amherst

Invites to the training camp won't be known until the training camp roster is announced.

I don´t think such a player exists, somebody just misstyped Mikus´name.

Sorry if it has already been mentioned but does anyone know if Bryan Cameron has been given a camp invite? He went undrafted this year after LA didn't offer him a contract. The Belleville Bulls hold his overage rights, but would likely trade him to a contender if he were to return to the OHL because they are rebuilding.

I was told that Doug Clarkson, little brother of David and former Erie Otter/Kitchener Ranger, was invited to Devils camp. No 08-09 stats? Any info on his whereabouts this past season?

Why didnt CHI sign Benny Schurton ='(

& is Matt Caria the toguh guy from i thikn plymouth?

no he was one of the 2 veterans (with Chris Terry) who were key offensive players for them especially int he playoffs. Talent wise among guys who are draft eligible/have been drafted Caria is arguably the best (Personally i'd say Tyler Seguin has the most talent/potential of anyone who played on plymouth last year)

Wouldn't suprise me, but i doubt he'll ever play pro, unless he really improves, he never really came off as a full-time ohler even.

He's on the camp list as cited by Tom Gulitti, the Bergen Record beat writer for the Devils.

He played (was captain) for the Vaughan Vipers last season in the OJHL.

Thanks for the info, sk8. The kid is 6'6", 230 still playing junior A and is nearly 21 years old! I can't imagine, just on that information alone, that he becomes even an AHL regular...I'll probably check out the Devs prospect camp and get a look at him just to be sure, but geez, he's still playing against all those kids that he's out-aged and out-grown...

Hurricanes have a conditioning camp planned for next week and there are a few free agents invited.

Kai Kantola / C / Bowling Green (Collegiate Invite)
Beau Schmitz / D / Plymouth Whalers (Free Agent Tryout)
Scott Pitt / F / Mercyhurst (Collegiate Invite)
Michael McKenzie / F / St. Lawrence (Free Agent Tryout)

Kantola was born and raised in Raleigh, Schmitz continues the Plymouth/Carolina pipeline, and McKenzie is the son of Bob McKenzie.

Pens announced the roster for their prospect conditioning camp next week which included these guys:

F Nathan Longpre (Robert Morris University)
F Zack Sill (Moncton Wildcats)
D Denny Urban (Robert Morris University)

Also defenseman Lane Caffaro who was signed by Wilkes-Barre at the end of last year, but is not property of the NHL Pens, as far as I know.

The 2 RMU guys I'm sure are mostly there since their coach is helping out with the camp.

Why is Backstrom at Washington's camp? Isn't he property of Detroit until next summer?

2004 draft pick; NCAA prospect, but he did not start playing NCAA hockey until 2006; old CBA rules so I'd have to go back and refresh my memory about the NCAA deadline for signing him under the old CBA

Also, it may depend on whether he was classified as an NCAA prospect in terms of the CBA since the rights have expired for 2004 European draft picks, but if he is classified as an NCAA player for those purposes, it's possible the rights would have been until 2010. The other possibility is Detroit released his rights early.

Someone posted the FA invites from the other session, so I'll post some more names in a little bit.

Why is Backstrom at Washington's camp? Isn't he property of Detroit until next summer?

Since college guys have to pay their own way to keep their NCAA eligibility- I don't think it matters who owns Backstrom's NHL rights. It's definitely unusual to attend a team's camp other than the one who drafted you (I've never seen it at least) but I don't see why they couldn't do whatever they want to do. It would technically be like attending a speed skating camp- you pay the money to enroll and show up, food and hotel are your own responsibility.

Any chance he's Niklas Backstrom's cousin or something?- it's definitely odd though.
