UNB Reds Thread (Part5)

Maybe I’ve missed these listed somewhere so likely not 100% official or accurate.
Sproule and Corbeil Austria
Peer Ohio State
McGurn Arizona State
Richard and Plandowski New Hampshire
McCallum Providence
McGinley ?
McCallum leaving is a real worrying sign since he’s a third year player.

I don’t think any of us envisioned any third year guys going ..

However the two that did are arguably the top d-man and goalie in the country , so I doubt it is a trend .

Pretty sure an assistant coach was responsible for Cutting leaving , was he not ? I’ve had some dealings with the guy and can’t say he is my favorite person I’ve ever met
Yes - it was related to an Assistant Coach. He was too abrasive with Cutting after a game and he (Cutting) was upset and after the season ended, upon reflection, he asked to be released (allowed to transfer without penalty). The AD supported his release request (went to Ryerson) and the coach 'moved on'.

I had high hopes for Cam MacLise that season - being the Jr.A. player of the year, but I don't think he adjusted very well to being the low-man on the pole having been the go-to guy for the previous 2-3 seasons in Jr.A. He transferred to MRU where he had solid numbers and played two seasons for Manitoba (AHL).

I’m sure UNB will land a lot of “pros” in off season
Yes - I agree. Not because I want the program to 'rent' players, but this is the best 'on par' talent pool to which UNB has had access to in the past. They can't play NCAA and once they play for UNB, they can't transfer - it's a matter of how many years of eligibility do they have.

This counter acts the 'worry' - does your OA recruit come or bolt last second for the NCAA as well as having a great recruit who is a rookie standout which you lose over the summer to the NCAA (someone you had hoped to build around).

It's going to be a big challenge for Rob.
