You know who has really impressed me this year that doesn’t get talked about… Dubois .. Earlier in the year people were talking about him being a possible scratch with everyone healthy. I can’t see that happening at this point , AUS site doesn’t post face off % but he has to be near the top , very effective penalty killer , wins tons of puck battles … Not everyone is going to be a scorer but he brings something to the table that you need to win , could see him developing into a Mark Simpson by his 4th year.
He was brought in to be that large faceoff winning centre like Simpson, and he's delivering. That was his rep in Junior apparently.

They got in last night, and I was told they all wanted to play today to get ready for X on Saturday.

So what you are saying is that they really want to win tomorrow??

Dubois was rated one of the top face-off guys in the OHL last year.

Top 20 by faceoff percentage (min 50 faceoffs taken) for games up to and including Jan 11th.

Another “sell-out” with hundreds of empty seats.

Perhaps this is easy for me to say as I don’t know the inner-workings of selling tickets/fire regulations/etc….but however many general admission tickets they sell to off-set some of the season ticket holders who don’t show up, they need to up the number. When I came in I saw a bunch of people walking out after being turned away in the lobby because it was sold out. Definitely could’ve filled the rink
even more if they had some more GA tickets available.

I have always wondered how many “season tickets” are people not using them for hockey since they are “all sport passes” which means I technically have tickets to every UNB event however besides a couple women’s games have been to only men’s hockey since they became “all sport” , surely their are people who bought tickets to go to basketball games who don’t use them for hockey .

I guess there is no way to "manage" that. They could sell 500 more GA tickets, but if the Season Pass holders show up then you have an overflow.

this is what he is referencing ..

I sat behind the bench the last game down in Moncton and didn’t notice anything but now I'm curious . Drinking straight mustard is… a choice ….
I remember reading about that in the summer when I was digging around for info on those guys. Personally, I can’t imagine doing that…but whatever works I guess lol.

Great game this afternoon. Had a serious playoff intensity. They have one more meeting in Antigonish to decide the season series

Just a bit more intensity/emotion/physicality compared to last night.

After a pretty even first period UNB locked it down for the next 37 minutes…only giving up 3-4 shots. I don’t think X had more than one or two shots in the 3rd period until they got those late power plays…then they had a pile.

Really weird game…sounds funny to say given the score, but I thought UPEI played pretty good, especially considering they were playing with a short bench. They stymied UNB for the first 35 minutes of the game. However, you usually can’t recover from giving up four goals in four minutes - and that proved to be the difference - and then another three in the last two minutes, which made it look like it was a laugher.

That was a weird one...wheels really fell off the wagon for UPEI at the end of the second.

Nice touch pre-game by UNB recognizing FISU players + Forbie, Pearson and Henry from UPEI

X had 1 shot in the 3rd until the Power play at 17:12 (2:48 left) and then racked up 9 on the back-2-back power-plays getting one goal while UNB got the always fun Empty Net-Shorty

Kind of a strange one tonight. 8-3 score wasn't indicative of the overall game. Reds scored in bunches.
They (UNB) were not into the game - it was a practice and they only wanted to expend the necessary energy to win and go home. You can't give Reynolds and Peer 'clean' untested shots and the one-timer from McCallum, on the power-play, was crazy - tough to match that.

Updated UNB men's hockey stats, sorted by points per game. With only 6 games left in regular season Peter Reynolds is 1 goal away from cracking 20. His shooting percentage is an unreal 33%. Finally healthy Oliver Peer is next best at 25%, usually scoring off the rush.
