Good deal, dunno bout that negativity. Either he do it or doesn’t. Two years with flexibility to find out is good.

Hockeywise, Marty Biron states the biggest thing UPL needs to work on is shots from the point with traffic. He says he misjudges and misses. He needs to work on his tracking.

Also stated his strength and conditioning needs to be improved.

Says that his lateral movement in close is a strength.

It seems like conditioning was one of UPL's problems. Granato mentioned last night that UPL came to camp in better shape and more prepared. Marty Biron had also mentioned in the past that he felt conditioning was a problem.

The 32TP has a bit about Joey Daccord clearing and when the cohost Marek thinks Buffalo should've taken him, Friedman says "what does that say to Luukkonen" and he gets it about the vibes.

About 8 minutes in.

(Also listening to find the Dahlin quotes.)

I’m not following the logic of Marek or Friedman on this.

Marek is surprised the Sabres didn't put in a claim, that Anderson is old and not great.

Friedman is saying it makes sense to not claim Daccord since it would ruffle UPL and the plan of having him as part of their tandem in the near future.

I didn't understand why Marek would mention the Sabres. What do you do with Anderson and his contract then?

Honestly, I would ask the question, "What does that say to Comrie?" more than what does it say to UPL.

I would read a claim of a guy like Daccord as not having a lot of faith in Comrie being able to be a solid NHL goalie more than it saying anything to UPL.

🤷

Daccord has been notably terrible in his NHL games. He's never posted above an .897 save % in those limited starts.

Last season he had an .850 in 5 games with the Kraken, and while the Kraken weren't great they weren't as bad defensively as it looked. They allowed the 4th fewest shots against last season, while having the worst save % in the NHL. Craig Andersons save % was closer to Shesterkins than it was to Daccords, that's how bad an .850 is. The worst Sabres goalie was Subban last season with an .871 and Daccord was .021 worse, Even Jonas Johansson had a better save %.

At 26 years old I'd say his chances of actually becoming something more than an AHL goalie are pretty slim at this point.
