Kape looked really good. Eye pokes aside, he was relentless and repeatedly landing good shots.

Beltran was terrible.

This is what I was talking about last week. The main event had multiple eye pokes including one right before the finishing sequence where Almabayev made it clear/tried to call timeout but the ref didn't care, and just like last week the fighter who got poked ended up running away afterwards to reset/recover. That's when the fight was ended (due to retirement). Yet for some reason there's not nearly as much rage in here as there are was for Cejudo last week.

In the moment this is the exact same situation as Cejudo, yet for some reason the energy in here is completely different. There's no hate for Kape keeping his fingers out, no asking for a DQ or points to be deducted, no anger at the stoppage, and actually compliments for Kape's performance. Wonder why that is....

Awful job by Beltran, if think you see an eye poke but you're not sure, you stop the fight have the video review official let you know if it was and then either offer the recovery time or continue. The horrible inconsistency in officiating continues, and the horrible inconsistency in popular opinion also continues based on who is fighting.

Beltran is one of the worst in the world to do it, I don’t think that should surprise anyone. Should stick with acting. Interesting to see you criticize the referee though, where was that energy last week? “I just think it's absolutely ridiculous to consistently criticise refs. They catch heat when they deduct points, don't deduct points, stop the fight, don't stop the fight, etc”

They deserve criticism when they don’t adjudicate game-changing fouls! Both Herzog and Beltran.

I think the reason fewer ppl care is two things:

1) Kape was running away with that fight, it was one-way traffic whereas if a point was taken in the Cejudo fight it’s a draw.

But more so

2) last nights card absolutely f***ing sucked on paper and less ppl watched. The co-main was Brundage-Marquez in a warehouse lol it’s hilarious to keep bringing that up

That was another eyepoke that almost directly led to the finish. It’s a major issue. It won’t change until they start actually penalizing it. Theres no incentive for them to stop poking.

Absolutely, positively should not matter one iota. Fouls are fouls, whether the fighter is winning, losing, or keeping it close.

I’m saying that’s why fans don’t care as much and aren’t in as much of an uproar- it wasn’t a close fight. Not that they should or shouldn’t be called. It obviously should have been called.

Also a main event where Kape is the A-side in a warehouse simply isn’t going to attract as much attention as one in an arena featuring a former double champ. It is what it is.

Both eye pokes should have resulted in points being taken- situation doesn’t matter as you say. Fouls are fouls.
