For anyone who wants to see Wijnaldum's goal today:
Statistics can tell you a lot in the right context. They don't replace 'understanding the game' or watching it, but likewise they provide a bigger picture than just the other as well. They should be used in tandem, and are by people with much higher stakes in football than what we have. A large part of the Liverpool 'revolution' so to speak was aided by advanced statistical analytics.It’s not that different than the hockey analytics. They could be a good tool to aid in analysis for things that may not be obvious on the surface but without the context of of visuals, they are often times misleading as well.
