UBS Arena: Westbound and Down (or something like that)

  • HFBoards is doing server maintenance Thursday March 13th at 9 AM GMT 5 AM EDT. Downtime is to be expected during the process. Server changes were implemented recently to cope with the traffic surge last week. This seems to be affecting the user login, so please anyone experiencing this, log out and clear the browser cache. We expect to have this issue solved once the maintenance is complete.
  • We are currently aware of "log in/security error" issues that are affecting some users. We apologize and ask for your patience as we try to get these issues fixed.
As luck would have it....we found that out....and he got heaps of signatures....about 15 I'd say.

thats awesome!! Hope you enjoyed the trip!!!!!

(and I say this completely genuine/no sarcasm) -- how was the trip? Did you enjoy the area/arena/game experience? Many times people come to NYC area and have completely different reactions to their expectations....

We stayed just around corner for five nights, not much to do in area TBH. Also stayed in Brooklyn. Went to six UBS games in all, two wins, Last one was start of streak. Shame they didn't win a couple more. The win over the Pens was the most enjoyable.
Getting to UBS from Brooklyn was a mission, thought it would be easier.
Venue is fantastic. All good seats....hall of fame night was great. The Shaq chicken burgers were excellent.
Met all the MSG guys at various times...so got to chat to Butch, Brendan and Shannon, as well as Hickey, Schneider and Cal.
Met some past players and had a chat to Bryan Trottier when he just came up to me before a game. Weird. Of all the people to pick, lol.
Even got to say hello to Art Staple. Great guy.
We used the park a lot...sat in igloos a few times.
All in all, a great experience, hopefully one day can do it again. Not likely, but you never know.

After going to numerous Isles games, concerts, wrestling, New Years Billy Joel, etc at UBS, it still boggles my mind that they built the Elmont LIRR station and didn't upgrade the Belmont Park station. Any quick look at google maps shows that there ARE tracks in both directions.

No need for a 15 minutes walk, shuttle busses, etc. Just get off the train and you're there.

With the horse track being renovated -- Can anyone confirm that they are making a tunnel underneath the track to walk from Emerald to the arena? Not sure where I heard this --

I heard they’re making a tunnel from the grandstand to the infield. Haven’t heard anything about a tunnel from emerald lot.

Can anyone tell me which is better...

  1. The Emerald Lot
  2. The Belmont Parking Garage (just south of Hampstead Turnpike)

I've never parked at the Garage, but my concerns are...

  • Even accessing it - I'm coming from the north and looks like you can only get to it if you're coming from the south on the Cross Island and then get off exit 26A.
  • Getting out of there I'm guessing ain't as easy as Emerald.
  • I have a BMW so is parking still free at the Emerald lot?

Any information would be of help.

Thanks.

If you want to get out after the game faster....use the Emerald lot.

Garage is definitely easier to access coming from the south but coming from north just get off at Hempstead turnpike west and there is a ramp to bring you right in once you cross over parkway.

I had garage parking last year if I was in a rush to get out, I would leave the game early or just wait 20 minutes after the game. I have heard it’s been easier this year with less people parking there, but I don’t have first hand experience.

Thanks Gordie. How do you normally get a parking pass? I'm on StubHub and they're quite expensive.

Even taking into account the 10-15 minute walk?

I’m a season ticket holder who has silver parking this season. I had garage last season but was unable to get garage parking this year, but my rep got me silver. After a year in silver, I think I would prefer a garage.

If I ever need extra parking for a game, I usually check a couple of the season ticket holder pages on facebook. The stubhub prices are crazy bc of fees. Should be plenty the next few games with the outlook looking so grim
