Last year Hughes went to Swiss league to watch Reinbacher. This year he’s at the tournament.

All signs lead to players at the U18.

I don’t think Hughes is looking at Cayden Lindstrom. He’s probably looking at Cole Eiserman, Tij Iginla, Liam Greentree at 5th overall. I don’t think they will pick a defenseman. Also probably Hughes want to trade up from 20s to early 10s.

Maybe two of those played.

This year U18 has many next year draft eligible players, teams aren't just there to see 1st round options.

Norway has 3-2 lead in 2nd period. Mikkel Eriksen, a 2025 draft eligible, with 2gs & a assist. He's going to be playing in Sweden's J20 Nationell league next season.

L.J. Mooney is small, 5'7, but he's another 2025. Kid is explosive & loves to attack the net. I hope there's still growth opportunity for him. There's really not too many players under 5'9 in NHL.

He's Logan Cooley's cousin.

0-0 after 1 between USA and Switzerland. The Swiss playing a hard, pesky game.

Jamiro Reber has been really impressive any time I've watched this Swiss team. He always seems to win his battles, and make the right play.

Another Swiss penalty. Too many men.

Norway leading Kazakhstan 5-3 early in 3rd period.

USA take a penalty. 4 on 4.

Good save by Kempf. He hasn't had to make too many. Only 10 shots by Switzerland.

USA scores. Hagens. 1-0.

Just a terrible turn over by the Swiss. Ziemer & Hagens go in on a 2 on 1, sweet pass from Ziemer to Hagens. Goal.

Oh man, Swiss take another penalty. Tripping on Hagens.

No USA PPG yet ...

Swiss breakaway shorthanded. Save Kempf. US PP is messy. Swiss just out working them.

US take a penalty. 4 on 4. They scored on the last one.

That's over. PP Swiss. Ooops, US take another penalty. 5 on 3 for Swiss for 56 seconds.

2-0 USA. Humphreys. Chaos, mad scramble in front of Swiss net, Humphreys in slot, puts it in.

4 minutes left in 2nd..

That'll do it. 3-0. Ziemer. Beauty seam pass by Hagens to Ziemer.

Hagens has 18 pts now. The record is held by Nikita Kucherov with 21 pts.

I think that's it for me. USA will win. Hagens impressive. Eiserman is invisible. He's got one quality shot on the PP. Otherwise, he's not doing anything out there. Ditto Connelly. A really pretty player, but ineffective and soft.

(Watch them both get hattricks in 3rd period.)

Geezus, Norway and Kazakhstan went to a shootout with Norway winning after 11 rounds. 6-5 final.

Kazakhstan gets relegated. Germany won D1 u18 Championship, so they'll be in this tournament next year.
