They were winning every o-zone draw and applied plenty of pressure. The major was obviously the determining factor though.

US froze entirely in the third, forgot everything they did right in the first two periods. Personally thought it was also a bit of a early pull.

Canada’s top individuals kept them in it at first and eventually decided it.

USA must have thought that the game was over after the 2nd period en route to another gold medal by the way they were dominating Canada. Boy, they were wrong.
