U18: U18 Day 6 - Last call!

Is this the best USNDPT team in history? Not the lineup of individual players, but the best team? I know the 2019 team was stacked with big names, but the chemistry the players have on this team specifically is incredible.

No. Defense is not impressive at all. It was exposed against Finns big time.

Swedes have played 4 games... only Slovakia scored on them! 3 goals in 4 games. WOW

Have not seen everything of all of the games, but this swedish team is unfortunately giving me a bit of the traditional international tournament swedish vibes. Winning the group, but always with a really weak performance against one(or two, or three) of the teams they should beat, in some cases really badly as well. The line with the most umph is the line without any very effective finisher(excluding the 4th line, that I was not a fan of coming into this tournament).

They have stayed solid defensively, but 5v5 offensively has not been convincing enough. If they can't capitalize on defences at even strength, are we just going to hope that the pucks bounce in against a team like the US? Unless they up the intensity greatly and punish them hard, that would be a brutal matchup. At this point it would be the final, so I guess that's a fine result either way, but winning aspirations seems rough. Not a fan of the second line, could try some changes with the 2/3rd lines, since I assume they will keep the 1st(not because they have been amazing, even though the point totals indicate that). Really feels like we are missing a creating center like Östlund this year

And US have scored over 30 goals in 4 games.lol
The hope is that they will get too overconfident and then if you can go into third period tied up with them how will they handle it? Get them into unfamiliar and unexpected ground.

That's the faint hope anyway.

No, but it's been an excellent team for the most part. The '97 and '01 teams were better in overall talent and play. Yes, the '01s lost their gold medal game but they thoroughly dominated Russia, just happened to hit like 6+ posts and had the rare poor performance from Knight. It was a lopsided game.

This team's forward group is excellent, definitely up there with the top NTDP teams in history, especially when they're able to add an Eiserman and Hagens from the U17s. But the defense is average and the goaltending only average-to-good.

37 goals in 4 games.lmao That is obscene. Is this a round robin record?

Few changes in the forward group. D is the same (and they've been good) and G is the same (he's been great!). I like the changes as it does give Sale some guys known for shooting. Petr needs to step up his game! Need some offence. Same with Jecho!

No complaints going in. Sadly, this feels like an elimination game for the Czechs.
