He's worth a 3rd if you can shelter him on your 3rd pair to deploy on pp or when you need a goal

Gosh, I remember the posts on the Avs’s board when Barrie was traded to TML. So many people were upset at that back then.

At this stage Barrie isn't bad defensively and isn't a great PMD. He's an average player that is great from the point.

There are worse players as second pair RD around the league. Barrie would still be an Oiler they just didn't have the cap space.

I don’t know what happened. Wasn’t he on a trajectory to make 8+ on his next deal at the time?

Barrie was overrated at the time. Sakic took advantage and snagged Kadri. TBH, I panned the trade because of Kadri’s temper especially after the VGK debacle but Sakic was ultimately proved right. Good on him.

I liked Barrie but he was a mediocre D-man. Some Ava fans hated breaking up the boys club.

Barrie is most certainly bad defensively

He was perfect for his role in edmonton on the PP.

Hes also well liked by his teammates and strikes me as a “glue” guy.

What does PMD mean?

Hes a PP specialist who skates in one direction. For him to have any value to a team you need to find one where he is their #1 PP option at the point. But 4.5m is a lot of money for that and if he isn’t in that position on a team he has negative value.

keep walking it back. It’s ok to not understand stats Or the player. Small + points doesn’t always = puck moving defenseman.

Barrie isn’t the guy you use in the defensive zone to move the puck. He’s the guy you start in the offensive zone to put up points.
Walking it back from someone that doesn't actually watch games that's only looks at stats. You're everything that's wrong with this site. No actual ability to provide insight. Anyone can read a stat sheet. Actually understanding what you're watching is the real skill. He's been in the league for 13 years. You're talking one statistic because you haven't watched him in his career. He's been carrying thr mail for over a decade. He's quite clearly at the end of it amd cant do what he used to but that doesn't change the style he has been playing for 750 games.

And you're just the expert to unskew the stats and set us all straight, correct? I mean, your years of watching hockey on your couch, like the rest of us, has obviously given you additional insight the rest of us could only dream of.

It's great hearing all your feelings. You provide no stats or even an anecdote of what makes you feel that way. Just a tantrum.

No one agrees with you. Sometime you need to take a second thought when you are the only one with an opinion and everyone disagrees.
