Absolutely no reason to trade Williams and I don't see how Toffoli makes him expendable, Willy is key to the team and a vocal guy in the locker room, he won't be moved.

thats why i said if toffoli plays well? If you could get a top pairing defenseman for william and bernier/stoll i think the kings should pull the trigger. scuderi is on the decline and the mitchell could possibly be done.
 
TT isn't ready for full time NHL duty yet but he is ready for a reward call up cup o tea and that is what this likely is. This is actually the tried and true method for bringing along prospects properly. I am happy to see TT get a call up and know that he has the skills to do a good job and I am happy to see him get a look see.

I am hoping that MR is alright and not going to miss any real time. Guy is cannon and we need him desperately.

Also, I don't see us needing another Dman, not yet anyways and imo not until next season.
 
There is a team function happening today (the dine with a Kings thing), so I would be curious to know from anyone attending the event if Mike Richards is there. If he's not, then I might be a bit concerned.
 
Mods, can we split the Mike Richards stuff in to another thread and have a is Mike Richards injured thread and a Toffoli thread?

Yeah, overall you don't do that unless you don't have any for sure, and we don't know for sure. So I don't think we are trading a forward for a D man atm. We might play that card in the offseason

They sort of go hand in hand at the moment, since Richards isn't officially injured, and people are still questioning why Toffoli was called up, but from the sound of things, Richards seems to be OK and Toffoli has forced the Kings' hand as they can't sit back and let him destroy the AHL any longer without a look to see what he could be doing for the Kings today. It is easier for a young winger to transition to the NHL than any other position. Not much of a risk to give him a shot.

Sounds like Toffoli won a look at the NHL. Who knows what Sutter will do. For all we know, he starts Toffoli on the third line, or he puts him up on the top 6 and drops someone down to the third line. Sutter is hard to predict. I doubt he breaks up Kopitar and Williams. Penner has been playing well of late, though maybe he messes around with the second line and bump Penner down to the third and try Carter on the left wing, he has scored a bit from there as well. Who knows...

All we know is that Toffoli wasn't called up to sit in the press box, the kid is going to play and the Kings are hoping he provides a spark to send them to another level, of course after going 8-2 in our last 10 games, what level is that? We are going supersonic. :P
 
Can anyone tell me a little bit more about Toffoli? I've heard his name a lot but don't know much about him, just that he is apparently tearing up the AHL. What kind of player is he?
 
Sutter called King and Nolan up last year and they adjusted fairly well and got their NHl feet wet before the playoffs started. With so many games in the strech and back to backs, it can' thurt to have a fresh young top 6 player in the mix. Having seen a few of his Monarch games on tv (vs the phantoms) he looked really good. As far as MR, Richards was at the Kings Event (Royal Feast) and then drove his girlfriend (visting from Canada for a month) back to the airport.
 
With the billion of games this month, it might not be a bad idea to rotate a few of the guys out of the lineup to give them a breather with the brutal schedule. The way the Kings play heavy, this month is going to be rough on them and if Tofolli can play well enough he will allow some of these guys to get a much needed night off here and there.

That's a good point. The Kings have a back to back Monday and Tuesday. Maybe they want Toffoli up if it turns out a few guys are a little dinged up and one of them may not be able to go both nights?

Pure goal scorer, hell of a shot, his skating has always been an issue, but i've only seen him play about 5 times this year, so I can't say if he has improved that much.

I hate when people say his skating is an issue. Such crap. It was 3 years ago when he was drafted, but it's not anymore. That's just the common refrain because people just keep repeating it over and over but don't actually watch him.

Tell me if his skating looks like an issue 2 minutes into this video...

Like I said, I hadn't seen him play but a handful of times in grainy video. I'd gladly be proven wrong.

I wasn't trying to single you out. I just see the "skating issues" comments a lot about Toffoli. Is he as fast as Voynov? No, but he can move up and down the ice just fine. I was watching every single Monarchs game during the lockout, and every game I came away thoroughly impressed with Toffoli.

That was operating under the assumption that Richards was injured, information that we still don't have.

That's a lot of work, believe me.

vBulletin is not very user friendly when it comes to splitting threads. You have to mark each post for its particular thread, and this thread is approaching 100 posts.

I remember when spezza was drafted and he had a "skating issue". Feels like the same logic. If they don't skate like bure they got a skating issue
