I have your gold medal Zippy!
I appreciate Jethro didn’t trade a Virtanen + high 2nd round pick for Myers and then double down on contract extension.
This can’t be serious. Homeboy is on pace for 12 points this season, and has the worst Wins Above Replacement, and Goals Above Replacement in the league. This is Eriksson contract 2.0.
Among defense men, Myers is top 30 in Corsi, top 20 in scoring chances generated, and top 10 in high danger chances generated per Natural statrick. .

I think the truth is somewhere between these two.
He's a serviceable top 4 RHD that got overpaid in FA. Wasn't the first, won't be the last. I think he's been decent, but has more to give in the O-zone; certainly not a top pairing D, but also not a Louie either.
My concern is for year 3-6 of this deal. I can't see it aging well.
Exactly. He’s decent but currently has net negative value around the league because of the 6M cap hit attached to him which will only get worse as he ages and will be near impossible to move in a couple years. Hopefully for the Canucks he maintains his level of play for the majority of his 5 year contract.

I would says its about 50/50 if he is even in the league playing regularly by the end of his contract
How many canucks are in the bottom of that list?

Surprisingly Edler is down there too. Gardiner and Gostisbehere are now below Myers in WAR. Edler and Myers are the only Canucks in the bottom 50 in the league in terms of WAR and GAR, and I suspect Edler has been dragged down by being paired with Myers.
That’s still an awful take. Even with Myers playing like crap now, he’s still way better than Gudbranson. It’s a ridiculously low bar, of course, but not a good comparison at all.And to think I took crap from people for saying he's a bottom pair defenseman on the same level as Gudbranson.

Our experience with this guy in the Peg, went something like this:
10 game stretch: "why do people bad mouth this guy.....does not look bad at all."
Next 15: "Uh, OK."
Except so far, I don't see it. You can say it's ridiculous all you want because the Canucks just gave $6M long-term to Myers and you don't want it to be true because we all know how awful Gudbranson has been, but Myers has been equally as bad.
Gudbranson
GF%: 54

So no, it's not an awful take. I know the sample size is relatively low as we're looking at this season, but Myers has been awful.
I dont see a lot of appreciation here?
Ya. Not sure why we're not allowed to make an appreciation thread where the mods move off topic discussions elsewhere.
I appreciate that he isn't signed for 6 years.I dont see a lot of appreciation here?
