I know it’s early on but I have a hunch Drury traded for Copp and Motte with the intention of keeping both around behind this year. They fit the mold
It's really hard for me to say it now after what we just witnessed but in the first half of that game the bottom 6 was revelation. Absolutely dominant. I think that first half was closer to what this team is than the second half. Motte was obviously a big part of it.
Motte reminds me of Hagelin. one of the most underrated players in the league. I hope he resigns.

With Motte being more physical. I'll definitely take it.
Hagelin was physical at times along the boards. He was good along the walls. He was not a big hitter. But he used his speed and body in other ways. both play a similar style differently. Motte is a better bodychecker than Hagelin.

100% agree, never meant it as a slight on Hagelin - I truly loved him here, I really did.

One thing about Motte is that he brought it during the playoffs (well the one time our team made the playoffs lol) - he is definitely a player who raises his game in the post-season. I wish we could've re-signed him personally, hope he plays well for you guys.

I think Copp is a guy they're going to look at make a determination, and I think it plays into what they think they're going to do with Chytil and Strome. I suspect Copp is going to ask for 5 years @ $5M per, how far the Rangers go towards that will be a determining factor I think in whether Copp wants to stay.
On Motte, I think it'll be interesting, he's on a $1.25M number right now, which is not huge, but with the Rangers with limited Cap space, it might be tough to keep him unless he really is a difference maker. Part of the challenge is he is more a left winger specialist than some of the other guys who can play center/left wing like Rooney and Hunt...and he doesn't produce as much as a guy like Vatrano (who I don't expect to be here next year).

He was very good last night when Strome went down. This is why it's important to have decent hockey players on your 4th line. They need to step up for injuries or if one of your lines just needs a motor.
