The Wings have zero other top 6/9 wingers with grit, unless you're counting Ras as a top 9 winger.
Moving Bertuzzi is adding another year or two to the rebuild. Not the signal I make before I sit down to sign Larkin.

Because the picks we get for him could be anything! Maybe even a player as good as Bertuzzi!

Why is this a good thing? They could be Riley Sheahan or worse. Any contenders first round pick is kind of meh, as it will be late first round and most of those guys that make it are depth players or non stars. Bertuzzi is a young already producing player, so we need a similar player back in trade or something really good pick/prospect wise, and a late 1st is not that exciting, even if a decent/good prospect comes with it. Trading Bertuzzi for just futures is how you keep rebuilding forever and ever, as you just keep picking up younger and less proven players to replace already good players.

Revisiting value here.

Would Nylander for Bertuzzi make sense? (If all this Vax stuff clears)

Nylander has the extra year on his contract, year younger, Wings love the swedes and his numbers don't lie, he's a skilled hockey player that is likely to blow up in a bigger role.

Bertuzzi adds grit/skill, (sneaky 30g year on the wings) what looks to be a playoff snarl in the top6 and a bit more cap flexibility.

I'd assume this would be under the assumption that he's open to sign - rather than a rental scenario.

Bertuzzi - Matthews - Marner

Nylander - Larkin - Raymond

Am I off in thinking this may be the deal Dubas is looking for?

Wings trade a guy who's all heart for a guy who is no heart.

Pass.

None of these combinations get Bertuzzi, Supposedly Yzerman has already talked to Hextal and Burke and Pittsburgh just doesn't have the prospects to Yzermans liking.
Where did you hear this?

Nylander is soft, so no interest in him at all.

There's plenty of players that play like him, who make more, do less and are loved by their fans.

I actually like Nylander alot ....and the questions is, why move him? Because he doesn't mesh with Tavares, he isn't breaking up MM/AM...and it goes without saying, he's the easiest to move from a core that needs a jolt.

If the trade were to happen, I'd bet in 1 yrs time people would be jabbing at Toronto fans for doing it...
