I feel like a deal with LA is begging for Turcotte's inclusion. Detroit has much less congestion at the center position than the Kings, and he could compete with Suter for the 2C role out of camp next year. If he's off limits that's fair enough, but I imagine Yzerman would be asking about him.

Is there a way that Mercer would come back the other way? If not that's fair, but I think Detroit would only move Bertuzzi for legitimate help at the center or LHD positions, otherwise we probably work out an extension.
i'd be open to Turcotte.

I could maybe see LA open to a Turcotte - Bertuzzi swap. But no way Mercer would be on the table.

I’d do Kravtsov, Lundkvist and 2ed for Bertuzzi from Rangers, since he can’t play in Canada doesn’t his value drop a little

imagine if he gets traded to a team and that team plays the Canadian team in the playoffs like the Flames for example

I love all the chatter about Bertuzzi and yet Yzerman has never addressed this, Bertuzzi has denied it, and he never got scratched leading into the TDL.

I think the rumors are much ado about nothing.

His value would be lower than normal trading him this year with the caveat being he can't play games in Canada. That's a big risk for a playoff team to acquire a guy that might miss 50% of any given playoff round.

Could very well be moved at the draft and he will cost a pretty penny.

Where Detroit is currently, stacked in prospects, they’d probably prefer what I call, the old Bernie Nicholls type trade. A player in his prime for two young NHL ready players who have a high ceiling. That trade was Nicholls for Tomas Sandstrom and Tony Granato. Two guys who went on to have really good NHL careers, who came right in and made names for themselves.

You’d have to assume one of those players coming to Detroit, would be a young C.

LA seems to be really interested in him and can't really blame them given size issues and getting pushed around. Having some brute force on the top six would be useful. LA def. has the pieces too, just not sure what's fair/what's needed, and the fun part will be watching people disagree on which prospects, but I'm sure there's a deal to be had here and frankly if I were handicapping LA's summer moves I'd argue this is the one they're most after.
Bertuzzi isn't a brute force guy.
He's nowhere near as physical or mean as people think, because of the name.
If I'm LA, I'm seeing if I can pick up Filip Forsberg.

Bertuzzi is a lot like Iafallo - but a bit better. Better IQ. More direct game.

If I'm Detroit, I'm keeping Bertuzzi until the trade deadline next year and spending July 1-Jan. 1 trying to get him signed to a 6-7 year deal at a reasonable price.
I don't mind having 1-2 expensive players in their 30s (2-3 years from now, when Larkin/Bertuzzi hit 30) with a rebuilding team.

If Bertuzzi or Larkin can't be signed at reasonable rates, then they get moved at the deadline and Detroit's rebuild just got tougher.

There's no reason to move Bertuzzi at the draft.

If some team really wants to overpay, I'd be all ears, of course.

We need to be done trading quality players for picks that won’t be ready for 3-5 years. Rebuild needs to end in the next 1-2 years
They can be used in a package for what Detroit needs.

Don't have to use the picks in the draft column.

Hes a rental at that point so probably a 1st + very good prospect and young roster player.
That seems reasonable. the Avs are not a trade candidate for a Bertuzzi, but in a hypothetical. 2022 late 1st rounder, JT Compher and Sean Behrens (2021 2nd rounder that had a great freshman year at DU). 1st rounder + B+ prospect + roster player that plays on your 3rd line.

This type of package seems reasonable. Bertuzzi is a good player. I like his game. A rental but a real good one.

Detroit shouldnt trade him unless he ends up asking for the moon for his next contract.

Guys like him should surround your new youth, you don't trade them.
The expectation is that he will ask for the moon since he did it just 18 months ago and went to arbitration. Buy low, sell high, basic asset management for a team not contending.

I like the player but we can't re-sign him. We can't even come close to re-signing him. Spending that much to trade and then having Copp(assuming), Panarin, Zibanejad, Laf, Kakko, Bertuzzi, and Kreider all fighting for top 6 ice time... somebody has to go. And Kakko won't be developing on the 3rd line. Just doesn't seem like a fit right now.

He wants 8/8.
There's been absolutely no mention of Tyler Bertuzzi asking for 8/8 the numbers floating have been the $6,500,000 to $7,000,000 per range there's no sane GM that will give him that contract after having a major back injury If i'm Yzerman i give him no more then $6,500,000 x 8 years if he wants more then trade him for a big package similar to Mantha.

No that would be your opinion, supported only by a dubious source.
It's not my opinion, You guys don't have the necessary prospects to get the job done Your prospect pool along with Boston is among the worst in the league once again pure fact. I bet you can't even name one piece you guys have that would remotely entice Yzerman to move Bertuzzi to the Pens because you don't have such a person.
