I just watched the entire season of Man On the Inside in one sitting. It's funny and Ted Danson is great, but also heartwarming. If you've ever had elderly relatives in those kinds of homes, it'd resonate. I don't get emotional over TV or movies, but there were a few times it almost got me.

WKRP has three of the top 5 funniest bits in TV history. The Turkey Drop, The Phone Police, and the one where Johnny and Venus take an impaired test and Johnny gets better at it the more he drinks.
I love that scene but ranking top bits is silly when you consider all Brit comedy, seinfeld, all in the family, cheers, etc.

SNL started Season 50 tonight but it was almost cancelled after one episode. These 2 minutes were all anybody remembered. NBC didn't push the cancel button........

Lorne Michaels wanted to kill him but then saw the reaction of the audience........Kaufman had been ordered NOT to do this skit.

He also banned Elvis Costello, and The Mats were definitely not asked back.

Who else?

Lorne...

watched the first two episodes of Tragically Hip`s Doc No Dress Rehearsal

They spoke about their first roadie into the USA and how they simply couldn`t gain even a quarter of support from the US markets and how they played to half empty venues

My buddies and I drove up from Ottawa to Burlington Vermont to watch one of the gigs in the early 90`s as they were getting big in Canada and was astounded at how empty it was, had the pleasure of sitting with the band post show as they came out of their dressing room to hang with the 60-70 ppl in attendance for a quick drink before they hit the road, all super gracious and down to earth and they performed like they would have in front of 20,000

Such a great band

Good Canadian boys, eh?

I just started that new show with Ray Romano and Lisa Kudrow, it's way darker than I was expecting given the cast.

Linda Cardellini though...yowza.

Since this is the TV thread I guess this should be OK. Anybody here own or have an opinion ( good or bad ) about Hisense TVs ???? Apparently over the last 4 or 5 years Hisense has gone from a bargain bin brand to one of the better TV brands out there. I've been doing some research and the Hisense U88N ( I think it's called the U8N in the States ) has very good reviews when it comes to sports viewing which is my main requirement. Right now the 65-inch version is selling for just under $1500 so I am hoping that I can get it a lot cheaper this coming Boxing Day. Any input will be greatly appreciated.

I bought a 42 inch Hisense about 5 - 7 years ago. I never had a problem with it. When I got my Samsung 4k 86-inch 3 years ago, I gave the Hisense to my son. He uses it primarily for gaming. He is still using it. I used it primarily for watching movies. There are better TVs with better picture resolution and features, but for the money at the time it served it's purpose flawlessly. I don't know if that helps any. Do you do diligence. Also, wait for a sale on whatever you do buy.

I have been doing a lot of research since this will likely be the last top-end TV I ever buy and the Hisense U8N gets good ratings in all the categories that I care about. I am a bit leery of getting a TV off Amazon Canada because I've read a lot of customer reviews stating that their TV arrived damaged and then had to go through the hassle of shipping it back to Amazon. One good thing is that Hisense is just about to release the U9N ( this year's version of the U8N ) which should definitely help to lower the price of the U8N. Thanks for your input.

I finally watched the Penguin

First, I can't believe that's Colin Farrell. But I loved everything with him and Vic. The stuff with Sofia just dragged and was awful IMO. The ending was crazy, but I liked it, maybe the best characterisation of the birth of a villain I've seen. It balanced how the circumstances around him helped make him the way he is, but he isn't a normal guy who just fell into this situation either.

Good show, generally.
