Fun fact: Joe Biagini was sub-replacement and will be left off the playoff roster. Aaron Sanchez was sub-replacement and likely won't play until 2021.

To you, these are the guys who CAN play baseball? They were both WORSE than Fisher was after the trade.

Let's admit then it was crap for crap. Let's not pretend that Fisher will be something. I think Atkins was probably talking Kay and SWR in that quote that sparxx87 was mentioning, more than anybody else.

It definitely was. And I mean... I didn't like the trade. And I hated that Stevenson was added in. But the idea that Biagini and Sanchez have value and Fisher is the one scrub involved is hilarious.

5.29 ERA, 5.12 FIP, 5.10 xFIP over 272 IP the last three years. Three. Years. He's been both injured and terrible. For three years.

The last time he was good, so was Chris Davis. Would you also argue that he's "proven"?
Yeah, I mean, a finger injury is kind of tough for a pitcher to deal with. Tough to know if he’ll ever rebound, but the chances of that happening are astronomically higher than Derek Fisher becoming a baseball player.

I’m not suggesting they gave up superstars. I think it’s ironic that the GM insults the intelligence of his fan base by suggesting they turned garbage into something other than garbage in that move. You’re welcome to disagree but there’s no need for us to discuss this any further. Thanks for your response.

Sure... based on what? Fisher was a top prospect a couple years ago and has a solid minor league track record. There's plenty of evidence to suggest he's capable of solid major league production.

He can’t hit and he can’t field. That’ll always make baseball hard for him.

Sanchez can't pitch well or stay healthy. That will always make baseball difficult for him.

I didn't like the trade especially when Stevenson got added. However, I overvalued Sanchez like you are doing. Sanchez has had one good year and that was in 2016. Like has been said it was crap for crap. Stevenson also I don't think was in the Jays top 30 prospects.

I’m not overvaluing him, I know he isn’t worth a lot and may never be good again... but I’d prefer to keep him than package him with another big leaguer and a prospect for a guy who can’t play.

I was fine with moving on from him. But don’t just trade him for the sake of trading him.

I’m this instance I’d prefer to smell my own **** than to smell someone else’s.

Who is moving the GOAT City

Tampa or Baltimore? Either way it’ll be great having the Jays down for a weekend series.

I don’t mind the Dodgers but you got to feel for the Nats. Hope they get to their first NLCS.

That’s fair.

I think they saw something in Fisher and wanted to give him a try. Sanchez, Biagini and Stevenson aren’t really losses. Although I’ve said previously dropping Stevenson from the trade makes more sense.

My main criticism is when some say it’s a bad trade. As others have pointed out it’s crap for crap. I’m not a fan of the trade but they are a lot more things management should be criticized for.

What do you think they saw? I’m not a baseball guy so I try to stay away from talent analysis but this guy stands out like a sore thumb to me... and that’s saying something on a 95 loss team.

For sure. I just took issue with Atkins comments of “Jays fans opinions don’t align with the industry’s” when asked about the trade on Tim and Sid. Be honest and say Fisher wasn’t good. Don’t insult our intelligence.

Offensively, Fisher has one of the hardest hit ball % and a very high GB%. His walk rate and his k rate had improved in AAA. If he continued to improve his contact and hit less GB then he might be an interesting player.

I think someone posted an article about Fisher and his potential a few days after the trade.

Not sure what they saw in him defensively.

For some reason i dont remember this - either Girardi really wasnt interest or he was too much for the Jays... Maybe he didnt check the Spanish speaking box either;

Girardi has previously discussed his desire to get back into the dugout and earlier this year even expressed an openness to managing a rebuilding club. He’s been working as an analyst for the MLB Network since last year. Girardi interviewed for several openings in the 2018-19 offseason, including the Rangers, Blue Jays and Reds, although he ultimately withdrew his name from consideration in Cincinnati’s search. Texas and Toronto, meanwhile went with younger and/or less-experienced options in Chris Woodward and Charlie Montoyo, respectively.

Some former Jays looking for jobs too;

Former big league skipper John Farrell remains interested in a third go-around as a manager, Rosenthal tweets. The 57-year-old last managed in 2017, when he oversaw a Red Sox team that finished 93-69 and earned an AL East title. Farrell managed three division winners and a World Series champion (2013) in Boston over five years, though he also guided two last-place clubs during his uneven reign. Prior to that, he managed the Blue Jays to a 154-170 record from 2011-12. Farrell has served as a scout and a pitching consultant in Cincinnati since 2018, and he interviewed for the Phillies’ and Reds’ managerial openings during the previous two offseasons.

Fellow ex-Jays manager John Gibbons also could be a possibility for clubs, Mark Feinsand of MLB.com relays. The 57-year-old wants to manage again or at least serve as a bench coach, according to Feinsand. Gibbons lost his job in Toronto after 2018, ending a two-stint, 11-year run with the franchise. He led the club to a 793-789 record with a pair of playoff berths.

Atkins: Blue Jays Will Prioritize Pitching, Increase Offseason Spending

Review of what was said yesterday by Atkins and Shapiro.

If the Indians dont want to pay Kluber 17.5M and 18.5M in 2020 and 2021 respectively after pretty much an injury plagued, replacement level season where his velocity has been on a slight decline since 2014 then i think the Jays can. Kluber is definitely a risk the Jays should be taking especially consider his monies are team options.

That being said, im sure many team take that "risk" on Kluber.

I mean, there’s a lot of tools there. The athleticism is clear. Pretty classic lottery ticket given the raw power and speed. If you clean up the swing (the key being if) then you have an offensive monster on your hands, which makes him being stuck in LF just fine. Then if you work on the instincts, you could have a Johnny Damon style CF.

All if’s, but not a bad piece to get in front of your development staff for a winter and see what you can mould the profile into.
