Seems like we are finally out of the severe weather pattern. I can't handle any more of these nocturnal threats. I was unaware that they had a fall tornado season here.

Bring me sunny and 55 degrees please.

The decision to put my almost 15 year old dog, Muffin down (i hate that wording).

I don't want her in pain or to be suffering unbeknownst to us. I love her so much. She has saved my life more times than I can count. She loves her siblings. She loves her family. She loves the kids so much. She is a lover. I don't want her to waste away. She won't eat. She's lost so much weight. She drinks but she just wants to sleep. And my dog is active. This isn't like her. I know she's old. And I'm greatful for almost 15 years. But I swear she looks at me letting me know it's okay.

Please hug and kiss your pets. Try to be kind to eachother. I'll be taking a break from the board.

Hope anyone who lives near the wildfires on the North and South Shore as well as in Blue Hills stay safe!

It is heartbreaking to see the one in Blue Hills. I spent so much time there as a kid and as an adult, I used the roads to bypass the whole 95/93/24/3 echange from hell. Went to summer camp at Ponkapoag with the YMCA and spent time at Houghton's Pond before it got nasty. I have good friends who got engaged at the very top overlooking the Boston skline.

they just making up names now for these "weather events"?

Bomb Cyclone is the shortened name for bombogenisis. Bombogenisis is the scientific term and Bomb Cyclone is the shortened form and often used to overhype storms to incite fear.

Social media weather weenies started using it to get clicks from people who thought it was the worst storm in history. It became part of the norm b/c actual meteroligists were getting slammed by people who think what they read on the interwebz is legit and tv people are bad.

From the article: "Dubbed a bomb cyclone by the Weather Network, the storm bringing strong southeasterly winds is known in meteorological terms as bombogenesis, a rapid drop in atmospheric pressure at the centre of a storm system as it circulates northward."

I decided to take a short break from social media back in 2017. I haven't been back since.
The only thing i miss out on; photos of the kids shared by mom. But she sends me some anyway, or my better half will spot them online and show me.

I did this once before and i think i was off for close to a year. Honestly, you forget it even exists most days. It’s very freeing.

It’s not even that i was addicted or it was particularly unhealthy, but it’s much easier to be present without it. There is zero temptation to scroll and scroll and scroll.

It’s done wonders for me though. Almost reinvigorating in a way.

Facebook was fun when I was in college and grad school and I had an active social group I cared about. But after graduating everyone went their separate ways and you lose touch, then everyone's parents joined the platform and it got boring, now it's pretty much dead.

Never actively used Twitter. I never liked the original format, though I'll follow accounts that are funny or browse it for news and things sometimes.

Instagram is just pictures, i really never understood the popularity.

Reddit has some good subs that I learn a lot from but most of that site is toxic. I do rely on it to get reviews on products or find advice on recipes, gardening, or any other random hobby.

That's pretty much the extent of "social media" for me. I'm not really as wrapped up in it as I was when I was younger and had stuff to care about.

Saw my niece last night and she blew me a kiss instead of a goodbye headbutt. My mom said she is 100% what I was like as a toddler. Hyperactive and a daredevil who test patience. I apologized to her and my sister lol.

Oh and she wasn't actually saying oh shit. She is trying to say go sit. Auntie has been vindicated. Now if she drops the f bomb, that is all me.

The good knee is now officially crap. Getting worse every day. Couldn't sleep at all last night as it hurts like hell when rotated either direction.

I ended up on the edge of the bed, leg sticking out so I could keep it straight and hanging over the side.

Would move up the surgery (Dec 16) but selling business at end of the year and doing as much as possible before then.

Tiger balm, heating pad, and celebrex are my best friends.

Most people I'm close with just text me or call me if they want to share something, I found Facebook kind of needless and worried about privacy. I hated how they kept screwing with the settings to the point you had to dig 3 levels down to just find how to turn something off.

I always thought having the world on your fingertips would be a good thing, but as I've grown older I'm enjoying my world being just my surroundings as far as I can see or hear. Most everything else is just noise.

Hopefully you'll be able to have surgery soon after New Year's so you can finally have relief.

*Passes a large tub of tiger balm to you*

I blocked it on my iphone and use freedom add on for chrome and give myself 5 mins a day. I find it helpful to see what is going on in town. I also went through my friend list and if I would not stop and say hi if I saw them in person, gone.

I broke my cane last night. I stood up and went to take a step forward and it just snapped at the bottom (it's aluminum), as nice & neat as if I'd cut it with a saw. Ordered a new one from Amazon & it will be here tomorrow. In the meantime I dug out my grandmother's wood cane, the damn thing is older than I am but it wears like iron. In a strange way using it brings her back to me. What can I say, I'm getting more sentimental as I grow older.

My Mom walked with a wood cane. She got it when we all went to Scotland.

Dad was in the nursing home (Alzheimer's) and my two sisters, daughter, Mom and I were sitting in her breezeway just talking about where we always wanted to go. Mom said Scotland (her grandparents were from there). So...we planned the 10-day trip. My sisters and I had not spent that much time together since we were kids. Mom had to get a passport. In 10 days, we only had 1 hour of rain.

She brought her cane on the trip and named it "Nessie" .

I still have the cane. I am sentimental about silly things.
